Sony Ericsson at UIQ Developer Fast Track events

ony Ericsson is joining UIQ Technology’s Developer Fast Track events on 15-16 May in Boston, USA and on 19-20 May in San Francisco, USA to speak about mobile software trends and getting applications preloaded.
Sony Ericsson sessions: keynote and commercial track
Mikael Nerde, Director of Sony Ericsson Application Acquisition and Content Planning, is sharing his thoughts on mobile convergence and mobile software trends during his keynote and discussing the hot topic of getting applications preloaded in his commercial track session:
Keynote
* UIQ Business and Fun!
* Day 1, 9.30-9.50
Commerical track session
* Catching the Eye: getting the attention of device manufacturers
* Day 1, 16.15-17.00
Mikael Nerde has been with Sony Ericsson since its inception in October 2001 and heads up the global application acquisition team with the aim to license world class applications for all mobile phones categories from selected providers. As director of Content Planning, Mikael’s key areas of responsibility include developing the strategy and framework for all pre-loaded content across the Sony Ericsson portfolio.[/i]
About UIQ Developer Fast Track in the USA
The UIQ Developer Fast Track events provide mobile application developers with both technical and commercial information. Developers can learn about the compelling business cases to be made targeting UIQ 3 and get a deeper technical knowledge about concepts behind the UIQ architecture.
The UIQ Developer Fast Track is held in two US locations:
* May 15-16, 2008 in Boston, Massachusetts
* May 19-20, 2008 in San Francisco, California
Both events feature two tracks: technical and commercial. This allows delegates to understand the business case and to get a rounded view of the UIQ software platform.
Seems like those of you UIQ/C++ coders already working on something or just about finishing up can have a chance at worldwide distribution for upcoming Beibei & Paris phones
@Mizzle, Razec, Peter Kay, and crew ... anything special besides the above that you can hint/leak on, hmm?? I'm hoping me posting this can allow a bit of a sourkey for our taste buds.
Cheers ppl.

So thats it then; one of those four days sound reasonable to announce some high end UIQ devices: May 15th-16th, 19th-20th. |

I'm not so sure. I mean, we fell into this trap once before. Would SE announce two phones not "meant" for the US market at an event held in the US?
ETA: Though the dates do coincide with what has been rumored. So maybe they will. Hopefully this means Paris is triband HSD/UPA.

Laurenk, you are right, of course, but unless theres another conference or such an event towards the end of May, provided nothing goes wrong, it seems likely then, given what we have been told. |

I really want a SE phone thats good for imaging but im not about to plunge into the k850 nightmare. When is Shiho supposedly going to be released? Q3 or 4?
I think I will just find myself a K810 or something for now.

We have been asking for that since the N93 and SE still have not delivered it.

Has everyone forgotten about Paris?
That's supposedly the mantra of the entire device.
Though we'll of course have to wait for the official specsheet. |

This may be a lot to ask for, but it'd be nice to hear something about Paris AND Shiho next month....I'm very anxious to see what SE has up their sleeves. I feel like they're due for something awesome. |

The only way it will match up to Nokia is if its running on OMAP 3rd gen.

I've become quite disillusioned with SE recently, and to be honest I think the chances the P5 matching what Nokia will have out when they're released is pretty slim, which is quite a shame. |

I'd prefer it if this thread didnn't turn into ANOTHER SE bashing thread.
Thanks guys.

I have never used windows mobile so i am totally dependent on what other people comment. But I found this and think it looks interesting, considering that most people bitch about the design and speed, maybe these apps can solve finger usability issues... for me when looking at the specs (especially screen and Querty) X1 becomes more and more interesring. maybe "pimpin" the UI could really make this phone my next choice instead of P5 (if this does not hold up to expectaions spec wise) anyway, for those interested:
http://www.geek.com/feature-i[....]fy-your-windows-mobile-device/
and by the way, from all we have learned P5 will be avable from September, latest october so all nokia will have available (as far as announsements go) will be the N96. and we already no those specs, so I would anytime go for P5 if it has similar specs and performance just looking and the bad qulaity pics i have already seen of p5.....
