I wish they would implement the same here in SA. On the other hand I think the 'main stream' population will be so confused . . . By the time they get the idea the time will change back again :D 'Africa time' will get a new meaning. It will suit me thou. I will be able to fly almost every day after work, in summer (weather permiting)

@mario: It will confuse the heck out of most people...Hell, it confuses me...I know should they impliment it, the sun would set an hour later in the summer.

Lemme consult wikipedia on daylight saving.

The infamous BSOD aka Blank Screen Of Death strikes again
It happens to the best of us, boet.

Daylight Saving Time would be a great idea here, but first we'll need to convince the population at large to discard AMT (African Mean Time).

Mario, did you attend the AirShow down here at the airport yesterday? I had way too much hay on my fork to attend it myself, but there i noticed some spectacular aerobatic displays as i was driving hither and thither.

We had a beautiful sunset here. This was taken as i was exiting the freeway. Would've preferred to take the shot from the deck of a yacht instead, but ja, maybe one day...

I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

@jiteshraj: A generic version of mxit should work on the M600...then wait for them to bring out one specifically suited for UIQ3.

The m600i would then be ideal i suppose, but the mxit thing i am not sure about. Have you checked out the mxit forums?if not, let me know if you cannot and i will see what i can find out. Also regarding the specs of the phones, if you dont have them i can get a hold of it for you.

@ wanqa, funny you mention it, me and jim spoke about that earlier. I have one big worry for that though-the two of us sometimes chat late. I am trying to get to bed earlier, so he is gonna get a daylight savings finger most of the time now.

@ Kryptik,
That picture of the sunset has an excellent composition to it! The curvature and perspective of the road, sunset filtering through the foliage, the moody billows of clouds forming, etc.

@ jiteshraj,
The M600i has had its fair amount of issues since release, but hopefully firmware upgrades will eradicate the firmware gremlins that have been discussed at length on esato.
The W950i's 4 gig hard drive and more conventional keypad arrangement might appeal to some, but at this early stage it's still not much of a known quantity, as regards firmware issues etc. It's early days but there hasn't been anything too negative thrown at the W950i yet.
You might prefer the qwerty keypad of the M600i, particularly if you're gonna be using the phone for more business-orientated applications.

Have a look at these threads:

Lastly, once you've familiarised yourself with the scroll n' stylus input methods of UIQ, I think you'll be completely won over to the SE smartphone cause.

@ Francois,
And it's strange about you mentioning about trying to get to bed earlier, at around 11pm, as this is exactly what I've been trying to do myself! I wish I was more of a morning person, but I've always been a venerable night-owl, and then every morning is such a mission to get up for work that I end up saying, "This is k@k, I MUST get to bed earlier tonight..." and then this realisation would be out the window later that evening...again...

Mrs Amawanqa is also a night-owl, but she is better disciplined than me with trying to get to bed earlier. Gonna keep on trying to get into a better, more suitable routine...surely I gotta get there...eventually.
Old habits die hard; in my case very hard!

Right, some of the remaining Nokia 3230 pics:

I wonder if Kawasaki's design department got a few styling cues from those Matrix movies' sentinel machines when they designed the ZZ-R1400...:

Even diehard bike haters like me are bound to be impressed by these images. nice pics.

@Brix: I luv the intro you've done on the first page of this thread, very nice. I'm gonna suggest it on the Nigerian forum.
Guys, whats mxit all about? yea I could use the search, but I'd rather hear it from you.

LMAO amby, yeah I'm as White as the driven snow.
I guess my username, on first appearance, seems very African.
Thanks for the pic comments; I realise this a (predominantly) cellphone forum, but that's why I, on purpose, take the pics with cellphones, and I use them to capture the many interests that I have.

At the end of the day, cellphones and cellphone technology are becoming increasingly part of many of our lives; on Friday alone I used mine to take pics with, make a few calls, sent a couple of sms's, listen to mp3's on the train, made a few notes in the P900's jotter and followed sport scores, esato and news on WAP!
Sigh, what did we do before all these modern marvels...

@ ambyzown, mxit is a chat application, much like msn, but just for your java enabled mobile phone. The advantages of using this instead of normal sms is that it uses gprs to connect, and its data usage is minimal. I have seen data usage statistics compared to applications like mig33, and mxit uses a fraction of that data. It is very popular amongst school kids as it is a very cheap way to keep in contact. I mean, you can chat all night and it will cost you less than a coke. Hope that helps!

Today was a stunning day for so late in October; brilliant blue skies and hardly a breath of wind.
Taken earlier tonight from one of the rear-facing rooms upstairs, with the Nokia 3230.
(Not quite as stunning as The Kryptik One's pic earlier today, but a half-decent sunset over the southern parts of Essex and east London in the far distance.)

I maintain that the Karoo produces some of the most awesome sunsets I have ever seen, from all of my travels.
I had an ex that stayed on a farm near Steytlerville and those sunsets there were virtually unforgettable.
