Even USB 1.1 standard has a max speed of 1.5MBps ie 12Mbps which is more than the max irda speed so the only bottleneck is your actual gprs speed...modem connection should not cause any performance loss. |

@clank
You maybe right, but the problem is that my Infrared adapter is very slow cos i can see that during file transfers between PC and Mobile.

| That is actually not your adapter's fault, the se file manager software is provides worthless speeds, use some alternate software dataimanager or fma for transfers. |

pardon me for diverting from the topic.. But what exactly is the maximum possible theoretical speed possible on a gprs modem in ideal conditions? Whenever i connect i get an indication that i'm connected at 921.6 kbps..but it obviously is not so..

| Its bout 114kbps...wat you see is the connection speed between the modem(phone) and pc, you can easily change it from modem settings n you have selected the highest value but that is of no significance actually. Btw edge has a speed of 384kbps |

Theoretically. But you'd get good enough speeds of about 200 and 260 kpbs. Broadband speeds.!

I beg to differ, EDGE can only practically give speeds of 25- 30 kbps.
