Please, can we just have a conclusion to this thread so we can continue with our lives.

1 Is it possible to update the P800 to a P900 software?
2 Is it possible to do this via online update?
3 Where is the love?

So another perfectly valid argument on the potential for upgrading the P800, descends into the deliberate posting of complete bollocks by a minority of posters determined to ruin the thread. And the same comedians then ask for the thread to be closed, just like before. Why does this have to keep happening?

Isn't it time we all accepted that there is a genuine debate to be had here? If you get this one closed, deleted, or moved elsewhere, you know perfectly damn well that a new one will spring up tomorrow, and you'll (apparently) just have to spend more seconds of your valuable time rubbishing that as well.

The recent spate of threads - regardless over whether certain claims, pictures, and videos have been real or genuine - have all ended up refuting 99% of the "facts" repeatedly spouted by those ridiculing the claims. It seems like some of the regulars around here aren't big enough to accept that, back off, and let the discussion move on without their interference.

Shame.

The way I see it, there are two issues here, both of which have come out as a result of these threads that everyone seems to want to lock.

1. P900 owners (along with the rest of us) have been lied to about their phones. They are not significant upgrades from the P800, they essentially are P800's. Conversely, the P800 is still a current hardware platform capable of running the current UIQ operating system.

2. Is this really a firmware upgrade, or an OS upgrade? Do SE have an exclusive right to decide what version of a 3rd party OS we use on our own phones? Why are P800 owners prevented from legitimately purchasing (or otherwise acquiring) a new version of UIQ, in the same way we might buy or upgrade any other 3rd party software?

everyone is entitled to there opinions.people are having a laugh in this thread as it has been raised so many time.
it doesnt really matter where you can update the p800 or not as se will never support it and have no need to.
if it can be done then it will be done via the back door in which case your warrenty is null and void.if you are happy with this then try the methods that other posts have said.its your own phone to do as you please including breaking it

@Boinng

Oh there are so many things I want to say, but I will keep this down to a minimum in the interest of people having to spend time reading it.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

You are either much funnier than I have given you credit for or you actually meant everything in your last piss tak ... er I mean post on this thread.
If a sense of realism were petrol you wouldn't have enough to power an ant's motorbike around the outside of a penny. There is a very simple reason that SE are not going to do any of the things you are screaming for them to do ... profit! I know it seems odd that a large international corporation should even be remotely thinking baout turning a profit, but there you go.
I must say that I in part agree with Mixin, there is an air of jealousy, but also bitterness on the part of some people. You bought a P800, now it is out of date, out of fashion and lacking in official support. This is what is called tough luck. The same thing will happen when a successor for the P900 is released. Will I be crying myself to sleep? Will I firebomb SE displays? Will I form a small, but fanatical resistance movement to bring SE down? NO, no and no.
As for posting complete tosh and having fun, well my boy, that's exactly what I enjoy doing with daft threads such as this. Not only do I enjoy seeing moaners having one against them, I wholeheartedly appalud others who do the same. What a dreary wee existence these people must lead e.g.

8 am Got out of bed today, overwhelming feelings of depression that SE will not be releasing upgrades for P800
9 am Breakfast, food was tainted with the bitter taste of SE's betrayal.
12 noon Lunch with clients, couldn't concentrate on meeting, feelings of resentment and depression overwhelming again.
1 pm Spent hour counting number ofhairs on the cat.
2 pm Logge donto Esato.
2.02 pm Read thread in which people were having fun.
2.03 pm Extreme and violent nausea. Don't thes epeople understand that SE have betrayed them?
2.20 pm Posted a serious message on the SE betrayal.
2.30 pm Telephoned SE.
2.35 pm Put phone down, representative sounded too happy.
4 pm Drive home.
5 pm Sit in darkened room staring at P800. Burn pictures of P900 and chant 'Death to the Great Satan'.
7pm Early to bed, bitterness and resentment are tiring. Next door are having a party, had invite, could be a P900 in there, better not go.

The best thing all of us can now do is to post complete and total nonsense whenever we see one of these threads. I hope that the above nonsense will have contributed accordingly.

@Codename_47

They have to download it from servers just like we do. It is the very same upgrade process. So your theory is not workable.

Did you guys notice that the true "upgrade moaner" argues the two phones are (almost) the same, he does not ask for features, but he just want the latest/best unconditionally. He means software. Hardware costs money. Somehow this whole concept is so unworthy of a wonderful tool - the P800.
