I have taken a lot of nice pictures with my w995, but I have also taken many bad ones. Likewise with my daughters Sony Alfa 200. No camera shoot great pictures every time. It is not all about having the best camera, but more beeing able to create memories. I do not need perfect pictures of buildings, landscapes and so on. I want memories of people I share my life with

Yes of course true same here half the photos I take & put on Esato I don't keep. But I also have had terrible cameras that spoil those memories. I once had such a poor Pentax camera that no matter what I did the pictures were dreadful

one of the most funny things in this thread is that w995 cant produce sharp images............ thats so stupid.
w995 is such a Grand slam worldwide, (just look at the sale numbers) if i had the money i would buy one directly.
ps.....show me a single ELM night shot with this sharpness ?? (tells how great w995 image sensor really is)
(perfectness by idumbakumar w995)

It's kind of hard judging the sharpness if the picture has been downsized so much.
All pictures look sharper when downsized.

I agree.. Get the Hazel (when you can find one available.)
Adding my vote to this recommendation. If you get the Elm for the camera then you might as well get the Hazel. The 2.6 inch display makes a great difference when deciding whether you took a great pic or not. |

Elm/Hazel night shot
Original
Although I must admit that the weakness of Elm/Hazel would be the annoying Horizontal lines when taking some lowlight/night shots, but it can be eliminated or reduced by lowering the EV, or using slow shutter/twilight mode. If you look at the picture full size it's there but hardly noticeable. Hopefully a firmware update will completely remove those lines.
@fluke9 would like to know what Nokia unit you have in mind

i don't know about ELM pictures but looking at the threads its seems better than w995. As of my view W995 is of ther best device from se but less emphasised camera. If the camera is some more better it'll deserve a name all rounder. Amazing Music quality, better speakers, good display, wonderful solid design. 3.5mm jack.good call quality through ear piece. But camera seems ignored. It suffers from low details, chromatic abbreviations( worst purple fringing which is not in elm). Colors are so good and performs somewhat better in low light without flash. Led has yellowish tint on pics. So decide which device.
X10 mini is good u can consider that also. Camera performs better in that. |

Agree completely. To add my 2 cents, bluetooth and wifi work better on the w995 than on the elm. You can get good BT transfer rates even if the w995 is several feet away from your laptop-not so with the Elm. Wifi reception is stronger too. There are accounts on the Net of the w995 reaching download speeds of 10mbps with a strong Hspa signal-not sure if the Elm can do this. |

There's no Elm or Hazel shots available yet but the C902 is perhaps the closest example at the moment:
You can't post C902 shots and say these would be comparable to the Elm or the Hazel. The C902 is an 5MP version of the W995 camera, with the same strengths (color, saturation, WB) and weaknesses (noise, purple fringing).
The C901 is closer to the Elm/Hazel.
