@driftmania:
Yes, all of them do look very similar. Not in a good way.

a friend of mine is saying: "if you don't have arguments against the woman, tell her she is ugly". this discussion sounds familiar...

in my opinion, as i have been a SE user for a lot of years now, i can say the folllowing...

in terms of design, SE trumps over nokia.
in terms of operative system, stability and quantity of programs available, nokia rules that segment.

the problem with sony ericsson is based around the minimal improvements they make over their basic platform, instead of going with a robust OS as symbian has done since the dawn of time...

talking a little bit about design, nokia allways focused on small modifications to their previous handset forms, but they have now began to improve in an amazing way... take for example the n series (no one knew what was a dual slider until nokia brought that up)

in the end, the option of buying a phone mostly depends on your own experience, so let's hear more opinions, ok...

I honestly dont understand the stupid argument posted by who ever posted the 7pics. In real life the N81, N85, N96, N82-Black, N78, N86 and 6210-Navigator do look different, maybe at one quick glimpse they look a like but hold them and see them in live photos or actual life they do differ but so what, i could come and equaly stupidly b***h about how both the iPhones look a like, how all the iPods look alike, how the SE W880, W890, W705 AND W995 look a like, how the Motorola Z3, and Z6 look a like etc. . . .seriously whoever brought the whole look a like thing with the pics needs to get a life , the only NOKIAs that realy do look similar are the trio N81 ,N85 and N96 and even then once you see them live you can immediatly tell its 3 different models. Just get back on to the topic.

I think I like SE because they're very good at simplicity (which actually may be bad because their UIs stay pretty much the same way for years now). The Media menu is a favorite though. As for modding, S60 is of course moddable but I still think SE mods are more accessible for even the average user.

You have to admit that once you get used to nokia....you never wanna go back to , because of these simple reasons:

1) Full support and a real customer service!! yes...they do listen your complains and recommendations!!

2) An OS that has been out for years with great support!

3) Camera phone: Just look at the n82...best 5 mp camera phone so far...great music player, accelerometer, gps.

4) Its completely standard: 3.5 mm headphone jack, micro and mini usb ports...No more....Ohh great...my headphone port broke...or....sorry left my usb cable at home...

5) Each firmware upgrade brings bug fixes and phone improvements!

6) Tons of Symbian applications and games...ever heard of NGAGE???

came out with the g900 and g700...months later they said that they will be no more support for UIQ...what the hell was that!!!!

this argument is going nowhere, se is only good for flashy looking menus where nokia's are good for applications, multitasking, more features, more all-in-one devices that se is lacking in.

the difference between my statement and the misinformation in the post directly above me is that what i have said is well known and akin to stating that grass is green.
one only has to listen to the better samsungs, nokias etc and compare those with SE. or read any professional reviewer on the latest sony ericssons, samsungs, etc to know that SE lost any temporary superiority in those departments years ago(literally).

there seems to be an almost unanimous agreement between all the reviews that SEs audio leaves a lot to be desired relative to the competition.

After reading 6 pages of this thread I realized that phones lose in pretty much all ´objective´ comparisons with other phones. People that still buy phones or stay loyal to the brand do so because of ´subjective´ reasons, whether is the icons and how the menu looks like or because they had good phones years ago and cling to because of that.
Don´t you guys agree?
