i previously had k800i -> bought a new k850i -> gave k800i to my wife -> used k850i myself -> got about 100 specks of dust under the lens glass cover -> gave back k850i to my wife -> using k800i from today.
K850i suks !!! menus are so slow, very buggy during calls, and after the dust issue, i wouldnt recommend it to anyone (untill the price drops to about $270) |

after reading all this, checked my lens cover and yup, there it is dust, and lots of it, about 10 particles I can see, might be more though!
Doesn't seem to be affecting my photos though.
I purchased this from o2 online, does anyone know if I could swap it instore? |

I have had my K850i 2 days now and no dust so far...
There is a gap around the camera lense that it could come through, if not maybe the speaker is where the dust is entering?...
This whole phenomena is a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in a government agenda. (+9, -0) |

@Ronaldeano
If you have purchased this online... you will need to do a return through them...
You can get them to send you a replacement and the driver can take the faulty one....
You need to make sure you are within your 28 days.
Hope this helps

I am withing 28 days - only thing is, if this is a problem for my current handset then it will reoccur in the new one, just thinking if it is worth it or not?? |

I have had 5 now... due to hardware problems...
The one I have now seems to be the best one... the ring on the back near the camera seems better the back...
Just software bugs...
You can change it as many times till the handset you get is fine... and the best thing the 28 days starts again....
Im with o2 an all and have done to... Hopefully my 5th handset will be fine... if not will do the same till it is... as I really do like the phone.
Cheers

When I bought t K800 first off all, I did remember the key light was same over the kaypad. after 2 month I got other K800, they quality was not same at all. the later one feels much better.. light via joystick back, action pad was not same as the old one..
So I would wait month after the first ship from SE. some small changes will be happened..

i'm starting to find dust accumulating in the gooves that join the keypad to the phone body hmmmm....and the only way to get it out seems to be a really fine needle point...annoying!
the collection of dust buddies has grown behind my lens cover but it doesn't seem to be affecting my pictures. my local SE will not swap my phone for a new one, so i guess i'll have to wait for when the new firmware update is ready and bring my phone down to a service centre to get it updated and cleaned out.
sigh... |

Just got off the phone to o2, getting a new handset on Monday morning
so do they literally pick up my old one and give me a new one at the same time?

When you get email confirmation... it will say either DHL or PARCEL LINE... if the later then it will be an exchange and if not then you are expected to return it to them...
When you get the other one use the same box and they give you a return sticker which is pre-paid and stick it on box and send via post office and ask for confirmation as proof.
Simple.... They should have told you which way it would be done... quite surprised they have not said...
Hope this helps

I reckon that dust is getting in through the back cover and not the glass. Otherwise you'd see dust on more than the lens/shutter opening. Really bad form SE. Surely they would have picked this up in pilot phase. |

Just phoned o2 to confirm and yes, its definitely an exchange so would I still need to put the return number on the box?

No problem... Print the email they send you with the return number and give it together with the fault phone... and the driver you give you the replacement.
Hope the replacement works out better for you...
Cheers
