I got my T9 back - had to do the update once more, it got borked somewhere on the way. I cant really see any large changes with the new firmware yet.

Yup, seems that R8BA024 has had a performance boost on the phone. Things seem to run a bit faster now overall.

benchmark is a java app that allows you to know the phone's performance.

i know what it is, just didnt know how to do it. thanks for the link though

any way.......... i dont think there would have been many changes/improvements, as the phone has been out a while now, so the major updates are done, and tbh, the phone was rock solid from when it was released so there wasnt much to be improved on with firmware updates imho!

i updated to R8BA024 and found an irritating bug.

when in writing mode, (composing SMS, MMS, note, etc.) holding down the '#' key doesn't do anything. it is supposed to switch to '123' mode but now it doesn't work.

i have tried reflashing my phone but the problem remains. i shall email SE about this and post any updates.

Here it opens a menu where you can switch writing language quickly. According to the 'Info' tips it's supposed to do that... (See 'More' > 'Info' > 'Writing Tips')

TBH I can't remember if # ever switched between letters & nrs.

I just keep a key depressed to get the corresponding number....

the # key is supposed to bring up a menu with the languages and typing modes available in your phone

holding the # key down has always allowed you to switch to 123 mode, very convenient when typing out long numbers, PROVIDED that you check the 123 option in the Writing Languages.

having said that, everything is back to normal. it seems that the most recent firmware update somehow managed to uncheck the 123 Writing Language option, for some reason. it is the first time i have ever experienced any firmware update doing that.

anyways, i re-checked the option and everything is back to normal. no harm done

After updating my W880i from R1JC002 to the latest R8BA024, the phone no longer vibrates! I went through the software tests and everything works fine but the vibration test return nothing at all no matter what I pressed.

FYI, I did the update when the battery is 77% full; and I noticed it detects my phone as W880 APAC before the update and W880i after the update. Also, I bought the phone on eBay and was de-branded all along.

Can someone help? Thanks!
