after master reset,
if you look pictures by selecting "themes" or "my sounds" then
"option" key , "memory status" and "my pictures"
it does not load the pictures to the dinamic memory. |

but you can't delete them, so? |

This has sort of been discussed in another thread. But Here's my experience.
My phone is a t68i but it should be somewhat similar.
When I do a master reset. then.. before looking at any images, check memory status, it shows 960KB free memory.
Some of this memory dissapears when I look at images.
I figured the phone must be loading them from the firmware when you look at them the first time.
So what I did(this is the part which has been discussed) was I filled the memory. Then went to the pictures folder. The phone only says memory full.. delete something.
I deleted all the images and voila. I now have 955KB of memory which can be used for what I want. This should be the same for the t300 too..
Oh and one more memory bug. This may be different on the t300...
I discovered this while trying to fill my memory. I sent myself an mms with a gif animation in it(I don't think the filetype matters). Now images in mms messages don't appear in the my pictures folder until you save them. So I thought If I saved the picture many times it would eventually fill the memory. Now here's the issue. I was saving the image over and over again for a while and started to wonder how big the memory was... So I checked the memory status... First up came the free memory. It hadn't diminished at all!!!
the the really weird part. My pictures:2045 KB!!!!
Now. since the memory is about 1000KB in size altogether this seems kinda weird...
Seems the t68 has alotta memory bugs. The only thing which seems right is the part about how much memory you have available.
If you don't believe me you can try it yourselves.
just save a file from an mms message multiple times.
You could always impress your mates about it
"Look mate!! I have a Total of 5 gigabytes of memory on my phone. only 500Kb free right now though..."
Oh. And if anybody wants to free up the memory like I did a great way to fill your memory if you don't have the ability to connect your phone to the computer in any way. Use the voicerecorder.
It fills your memory in about 20-25 mins. |

- we can't delete preinstalled stuff with r1d software on t300
- the phone don't save the same thing twice, but there's a bug in the estimation of size folders

Yup, the phone doesen't make 2 copies when you use the same pic in a mms and 'mypictures', it just use the same pic in different folders.
So if you delete a pic in 'mypictures' that you also have in a mms it won't free any memory cuz it's used in the mms aswell.
This is ofcourse not a bug but a smart way of saving memory.
Think about it, if you had a big screensaver in incoming mms, unsent-, sent-, templates and my pictures you would waist 5 times the kb's that's needed and quickly run out of memory...

Couple of obs. from me.
After my first master reset my MMS templates (all listed) only showed as 75KB. I reset it again (to keep pictures blanked etc) but now it shows as 111KB.
Also, only the first two showed initially (blank and recording) but after fiddling, trying to delete them (couldn't) from within the memory view, the others reappeared. Fiddled bit more (trying to delete them, couldn't) and they dissapeared again from the list. No change at all to the 111KB shown as used though.
On a fresh reset and without allowing the default background/screensaver to kick in (disabled) and removing the two pics that Orange (UK) have also 'kindly' included in the install ROM, I get 578KB free overall with 87KB taken for sounds, 65KB taken for the pictures, 63KB for themes and 111KB for MMS templates.
I've installed four games (together with the imovable Erix), and a couple of ringtones and am left at the moment with about 384KB to play with. |

Supreme: I suppose it's not a bug that it doesn't save things twice. But it is a bug that it doesn't take this into account when estimating folder size. |

Yeah, i suppose so...
But I still like it the way it is cuz if I make a MMS I wan't it to show as big as the recipient will get it including all files

Thanks for the write up! By the way, the reasons why there is a cached copy of the images is that it takes a long time to decode them, so this is only done the first time they are used. If you have a full screen image for instance, the cached copy should occupy 101x80x1 bytes, or approximately 8 kb. It is truly irritating that these cached copies aren't removed when deleting the prestored images!

Well, anyone here got their game restored when they do a master reset? Some people in other treads claim they did.
I realised when I 1st deleted minigolf on my phone that memory did not free up. So I brought the phone in to an authorised SE repairer.
They mucked around with the phone and started deleting more games (all except Alien Scum) and admitted its a problem. So they said a firmware upgrade should fix it. They updated my firmware from R1B to R1G.
Just got my phone back yesterday and the wonderful part is. I only have Alien Scum now and it's still taking up 149KB memory. Doing master reset doesn't restore the lost games. They just said they did what they could. How shitty is that?
I realised a couple of people in this tread has the same problem. I get rid of all the games so that I can use the space but if I can't do that, I want to at least have access to those games.
Anyone here got a solution to this problem yet? It's been months since most of you here realised this problem, anyone here solved it? |

You guys are very lucky. More than 900kb space.....
Now look at mine, there has to be something seriously wrong:
227kb free
87kb sounds with none of my own
190kb pics with 1 of my own
93kb themes with 1 of my own
111kb MMS templates
0kb games with just erix
Makes a total of: 708kb!!!!!!
Hows this possible?? I have 1 oicture with 4kb and 1 theme installed. I have had more space i can remember, but after installing several themes to check them the space grew less and less.
Does anyone think that a master reset would bring me back to more than 900kb. Its inacceptable to be able to store 4 pics from the cam only before memory is completely filled up, with no other stuff installed.....
