Why isn't the K850 on the list for new firmware upgrade? That is something to think about.

what i mean is, must there not be some tiny hardware-component between the screen and the camera ????

do you really think a k850 can have this feature with just changing software...

This will probably get a barrage of replies saying IO'm bone idle for not searching for my issue throughout this post and the rest of the forum.

Had my k850 on Orange since day of release, and it crashes left right and centre... As well as freezing.

The crashing happens randomly... screen goes blank, keypad lights up like it thinks its the festive season then it shuts down and wont allow me to turn it back on for a good 20 seconds. The freezing on the other hand is noticeable when using the touch screen keys, and when I'm writing a message.

Now I updated my firmware a few weeks back using the phones update service and its current software version is 1200-4398 R1EC001 080225. Im presuming its firmware version R1EC001 and the date was 25th Feb 2008 and that this is Orange only firmware.

I'm wondering how I should go about resolving this crashing issue... as its not just me but several friends who are tbh p'd off with what is otherwise a fantastic phone.

Is it possible removing the orange firmware and going sim free with the latest firmware for that would be the best option and if so how would I go about doing that?

Sorry once again...but i did search and couldnt find anything that specifically helped me.
Thanks

You could have asked me Steve. The K850,W910 and other A200 all experience random shutdowns.Use Davinci to debrand it (making sure you select the correct colour of K850) if you must.I did find the unbranded firmware to be slightly quicker and more stable than the voda and orange branded K850's i've had.Again its up to you.Depends if you think its worth doing or not.

@heppell2k:

You'll have to debrand your phone with Kulankendi, Wotanserver or Davinci client in order to get rid of Orange, this isnt free (but wont cost you much either, i recommend you unbrand your phone).

After unbranding, you're able to update to the latest firmwares, and theres a new firmware coming up soon, so it only can get better..

Btw, the newest firmwares are much more stable..

Hey,

I think I may have come up with a way to reproduce the restarting bug... not BROD though.. just the "random" reboots.

> put a couple of wallpapers (320x240, for consistency) in the Pictures folder of your memory card.

> set your standby WP to one of them

> wait a while, it varies from minutes to hours but I did not do precise timing

> the phone will reboot - you don't have to stare at your phone to check this, because when it does, the wallpaper will be the theme default and not the one you set from the memory card. go into the menu and exit to restore the wallpaper.

Hope some of you can try this and let me know if this does the trick.

However on R1EA037 I didnt get to see the G or E above the signal bar.

Go to service center.
