Now my handset turns itself on randomly and won't even start up sometimes.
Gonna just have to wait for a new firmware while using a w910i (hopefully arrive tomorrow).

yes you can, try this setting
incoming server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
other way: you can download and install YahooGo!
Nope, it doesn't work at all.
YahooGo! does the job perfectly.
here in Pakistan only GMail working with the built-in email client.

One more thing, go to YahooMail via your fav browser on PC.
Go to Settings --> POP3 Settings, and Activate POP3 Support. Just read the manual there.
In some Yahoo region, you need to pay to activate this service.
I can't see those options in my yahoo account.
p.s. AFAIK hotmail too doesn't work as it doesn't support POP3 server...
has anybody got it work with the K850i-email???

Don't mean to stray too far from the thread subject but I wanted to give a suggestion for everyone who wants email on their k850. One often overlooked fact is that the K850 has full MS Exchange ActiveSync support for instant email delivery. There is one free online exchange provider that I know and use and it's called mail2web.com I simply forward my gmail and other mail I want to my mail2web email address and I get them nearly instantaneously. Just a thought. |

@buntoo,
You would not see it if you using YahooMail Beta.
Switch back for a while to YahooMail Classic.
Press option button at right upside.
Then you will see an option called "web access & POP forwarding."
Just enable that and try again on your mobile
If it still doesn't exist in Yahoo!Classic, then I give up.
For information, in YahooMail! Indonesia, this settings exist and disabled by default.
And I can send and receive Yahoo email using my K850i right now. It works perfectly!
Thanks,

I'm just gonna have to wait for this handset's firmware to be updated to fix this annoying bug, it's on at the minute but I use it at work and such so don't want to take the risk in thinking 'oh it's working now' then boom it's down again.

@ Hiron
No, i can't see "web access & POP forwarding" in mail options while i'm using Classic mail.
I've searched the net and found that it supports POP3 but it isn't free and for the premium users only who have upgraded to "Mail Plus". @£11.99
r u using yahoo mail-plus?
Yahoo says
The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express) is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service.
If you have not purchased the Yahoo! Mail Plus service, you will be unable to retrieve messages via an email client.
thanx

That's what I said before. In some region, you need to pay.
In my Yahoo!Indonesia, the service is free!
You can try register at YahooMail Indonesia, and get the address like this: youremail@yahoo.co.id instead of yahoo.com
Or you can try Gmail, it is free!
If you only want to use your existing Yahoo (maybe because it's important well-known address among your friends,) sorry, I can't help you :: sad ::
Try Tervel's way instead |

Buntoo - you misunderstood me. mail2web is just another free online email provider so you'll need to sign up with them just like you have done with yahoo (or gmail if you have a gmail account). The difference is that most (if not all) other online email providers are either online only or pop3, with the occasional IMAP support (Gmail has that now). mail2web is exchange based so instead of having to schedule a pull every so many minutes, the K850 can have activeSync "push" the emails as they arrive in your mail2web account. Once you create that account, just have either All email or just a set of rules in your yahoo email to forward to the mail2web account. This way you don't have to tell everyone about a new email address. Hope this makes sense

I must be the biggest sucker for punishment in the world... I just got my phone back from the repair center (after BROD), and what's the first thing I do? I flash it.
However, to my surprise, the repair center had already loaded R1EA037. Still, I went ahead with the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
I'm not sure if this is a new feature, but the software allowed me to "continue anyway" after telling me that the latest software was loaded on there already. Does this mean that if the phone BRODs again, I can now just use the SE Update Service to flash it? |
