but its good news then - its like having two doors to choose from. If R3 fails us then in comes xs++, and vice versa.

@sniper_supra
exactly, i would prefer that r3 arrived around the same time as xs++ support for the older firmwares, that way we have a choice of what to do.

Either use the superior r3 if it is as good as it should be, or use DaVinci to flash back to old firmwares and mod the drivers from there.

Best of both worlds?

@Hiron

Where did you get the info that that the processor is an ARM9 @200mhz, please post your source. According to mobile-review, the K850 has an ARM11 running at 220 MHz, same as the K810...
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-k850-en.shtml#10

Also, benchmark testing is subjective like you stated, you have to consider the hardware capability not software, there are too many variables...

I've got from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture

Look at ARMv5TEJ Architecture on ARM9 Class, it stated 220MIPS @ 200Mhz.

I didn't see 220Mhz ARM9 Architecture being produced. Maybe mobile-review mixed up with 220 million instruction per second?

JAce Benchmark on C902 reported ARM9 at 199Mhz. Because the Mhz speed it's not accurate but ARM9 usage can't be wrong, I think we can conclude it as ARMv5TEJ 200Mhz too, because no other versions of ARM9 can be fit with this.

More info on http://www.arm.com

ARM11 is not used in Sony-Ericsson K series.

ARM11 is used in latest Nokia N-Series, such as N95 and N82. The speed is around 400-665Mhz, which is too fast for 200Mhz Sony Ericsson.

ARM11 that running at 200Mhz NEVER produced.

Look at this JAce benchmark on C902i, it stated ARM9 processor:
http://www.jbenchmark.com/pho[....]yEricsson%20C902&benchmark=ace

Compare it with N95 Results. It stated ARM11 processor:

http://www.jbenchmark.com/pho[....]sp?D=Nokia%20N95&benchmark=ace

I'm sorry if I wrong. Everybody makes a mistakes

Thanks,

Hiron

I stand corrected, I think you are right. I hate the fact that SE does not disclose this info officially, resulting in all these conflicting reports. After doing more research there are all sorts of benchmarks and guesses ranging almost 100mhz in difference, but ARM9 @ 200 makes most sense.

The Red Flashing light normaly means that the battery is flat, or that the phone has encounted a problem with its boot system.

GhostFreak,

The Generic for the uk I beleive is

1201-9794 (Which is the velvet blue version) Im sure this work on the quick silver and green versions too. But not sure

I hope this helps.
