How do you guys feel about the altering of the bible buy Constantine (re-writing the bible buy putting in Pagan and Christian religion together?)

What are your thoughts on Jesus being a mere mortal and being married to Mary Magdalene (aka the Holy Grail) who also apparently gave birth to Jesus’ child (the holy bloodline?).

This life of ours is very short and whatever good deed we do will only benefit us in the hearafter and whatever we give in charity will be counted in our favour. Life will end sooner than we think and as this is a fact we must do our best in this short journey. As the Glorious Quran states in chapter 63 Verses 9-11:

O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own.

and spend something in charity out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, "O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given largely in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good".

But to no soul will Allah grant respite when the time appointed for it has come; and Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

Glorious Quran - Verse 34 from Chapter 31 states:

Nor does any one know what it is that he will earn on the morrow, Nor does any one know in what land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted with all things.

For example, there are many millionaires today on this planet who live life to the max, enjoy every moment and think they have it all. BUT does the rich person know what day he will die, does he know where he will die? The Answer is NO - The answer is with Almighty Allah only. Every soul will have a taste of death and there is no escaping this matter no matter who and where we are.

Chapter 18 Verse 109 from the Glorious Quran states:

Say: "If the ocean were ink wherewith to write out the words of my Lord, sooner would the ocean be exhausted than would the words of my Lord, even if we added another ocean like it, for its aid."

my point was you weren't stating all of them, and by doing so critically changed the meaning of the passages you quoted. i'm not going to dispute your quranic interpretations since i haven't read it myself yet, but those new testament passages are often misinterpreted and/or misrepresented

Chapter 5 Verses 110/111 from the Glorious Quran states:

Behold! the disciples, said: "O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set with viands from heaven?" Said Jesus: "Fear Allah, if ye have faith."

"And behold! I inspired the disciples to have faith in Me and Mine Messenger. they said, 'We have faith, and do thou bear witness that we bow to Allah as Muslims'".

According to the above verses, Jesus (who will return before the day of reckoning) was also a Muslim and worshipped Almighty Allah. Islam has been the one and only religion in sight of Almighty Allah as it states in Verses 19 of chapter 3:

The Religion before Allah is Islam submission to His Will, Nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.

Verses 1-11 from Chapter 23 states:

The believers must eventually win through,

Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

Who avoid vain talk;

Who are active in deeds of charity;

Who abstain from sex,

Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or the captives whom their right hands possess, for in their case they are free from blame,

But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;

Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants;

And who strictly guard their prayers;

These will be the heirs,

Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein for ever.

What a great religion Islam is, teaching the right things in life that we all should follow.

@PeterKay

All religions do that, that is pretty much the point of them.

Yeh i know, just letting people know what the Glorious Quran states:

This is what the righteous people have been promised by God Almighty:

In Gardens of Bliss:

A number of people from those of old,

And a few from those of later times.

They will be on Thrones encrusted with gold and precious stones,

Reclining on them, facing each other.

Round about them will serve youths of perpetual freshness,

With goblets, shining beakers, and cups filled out of clear-flowing fountains:

No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

And with fruits, any that they may select:

And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.

And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-

unto Pearls well-guarded.

A Reward for the deeds of their past life.

Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,

Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".

In all honesty, i can't wait

That isn't how I see the afterlife or even how I would want the afterlife to be, but I hope you find your happiness.

@peterkay, have you read any other religious text? Bible, bhagwat gita etc? Most texts basically say the same things what the quran says (about life) ...i have the bible and gita at home...not the quran...i haven't come across a good english version.. Would also like to read guru granth sahib (sikhism)... Scots, can you elaborate on some taoist rituals...if they have any? How do taoists pray? Sorry if that was a dumb question!

@whizkidd, i have read parts of the bible but not the bagwat gita as yet. and i agree with you that most religions state the same thing about life and afterlife. This topic is where we get to know what all religions say about life and afterlife, i would like to hear and know about what other religions say but not many are contributing!

The Glorious Quran - Verse 64 chapter 3 explains us all coming to common terms:

Say: "O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah. that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we at least are Muslims bowing to Allah's Will.

Not a stupid question at all old boy. Taoists do 'pray', but not in a way that many might be familiar with. There are different forms of Taoism, there is religious Taoism, which includes a number of gods and spirits, etc, which are worshipped. This, in my view, is not Taoism, but a modified form of Taoism. I would be classified as a philosophical Taoist. This is Taoism as it was set out by Lao Tzu. If there was such a person he would no doubt be in disagreement with those Taoists who worship him.

Taoists such as myself do not pray to a god, for there is no god to a Taoist. There is the Tao, but one does not pray to the Tao either for the Tao is impartial andwill not take sides. Taoists therefor do not pray as a Christian or a Muslim would, a Taoist will meditate and reflect to discern the answer to a problem.

@PeterKay

Taoists do not believe in beginnings or endings where life is concerned, the soul is eternal and everlasting. Our lives here are but one manifestaiton of the Tao and after we 'die' we transform into the Tao once more and we can manifest in this existence once more e.g. reincarnation. One's goal is to become one with the Tao and so break this cycle of manifesting in this existence.

i think almost every Christian would have a problem with this. the sentiment is entirely accurate. the only problem is that Jesus was in fact Jewish. while his beliefs and philosophies could be considered to align with Christianity and/or Islam, he was neither of those.

Its not up to you or to us to decide what we want in the afterlife, we too do not know hows its like, but the Quran do give us some infos what is taken into account during that time, but we cant imagine how its like, same as we cant imagine how God Allah is like...
