M series does not have cameras makbil...sorry

qwerty + camera = p series...

doministry, like i said, seven more uiq phones (at least), this is alot...who´s to say they wont announce more than one P series device...i am sure they will

just to go back a little, and to add to my statement...most of you that folow SE stuff know who is Eomer...he is a very well known industry insider...i posted this also on the UIQ is diying thread, but i suppose not everybody saw it:

UIQ are rapidly expanding their headcount in Budapest to support their platform.
Motorola have been instrumental in driving new features into 3.3 and beyond.
Motorola have up to a dozen more UIQ products on the roadmap.
Their problem to date has been jumping UIQ/Symbian versions with every new phone which was, IMHO, foolish.
Anyway they will stop doing that with the release of the next tranche of handsets after Z10 - ie Texel, Skarven and others.

On top of that, you can expect SEMC to announce/ship several more handsets on UIQ this year on top of the modest efforts shown at WMC.

I would guess that 2008 will see announcement/shipment of between 7-10 handsets.

This was posted at m-r forums. You see...when i say seven devices i am being pessimistic. This info i also got from my source months ago, it has been also hinted by some UIQ people interviews, and in general all people with access to SE know it.

I also would like to quote what satsuma (another respected insider) said at my-symbian recently

But I believe the next generation of UIQ handsets from SEMC /qutransitioning to a new h/w platform should also be pretty special.

Again...note: new hardware platform...that is what is KEY in the new devices

i dont think the phone (paris) we've seen in the pic is the Px (p990 'proper' successor) It makes no sense at all!!! to put a smaller screen on the successor.

And since the p1 is going to be discontiued this September, its logical that the phone we are seeing is some sort of p1 successor. Announcement not too far off, and that would mean a release around the same time as the p1 being discontinued.

And its really annoying reading all of these complaints. Yes its a forum open for discussion, but come on, seriously, there must be a point where some people just stop complaining!

have announced some very decent offerings imho, both in the smartphone and non-smartphone sector. In regards to smartphones, you have the g700/g900, both of which will launch at very good prices imho. And the x1, what, not high end enough for people? Its one of the most feature rich phones on the market. well, not techincally on the market, but its specs are. And by the time its out, i dont think there will be many advancements in terms of specs/technologies in phones to come later this year. HSUPA (how many phones on the market, or how many phones announced have hsupa?), wifi, (w)vga screen/video, gps, etc.... we wont see too much more, will we now?

We are discussing mobile phones here, PHONES!!! I say it all the time, there are plenty of other '''MORE IMPORTANT''' things in life than phones!

We are 4 months into 2008, that leaves 8 (obviously) months for to show you more high end devices, plenty of time, no? What we have seen so far, is more than sufficient, and there is plenty more to come.

Lastly........... i personally dont think the px (p5?) will be out until q4. i dont expect an announcement of the flagship p series until q3........

@ares, I know, that's why I called it an upgrade
It's ironic but the P990 is left as a unique device with respect to its features.
Now, wouldn't it be hilarious if SE surprised us all by announcing a P990 variant with 128 MB RAM

We have no proof that the screen is smaller, but there is pretty good evidence to suggest it's at least as big.

Perhaps, but looking 2.6 inches is hardly conclusive proof that it is 2.6 inches.

From earlier shots, it certainly looked 2.6, but the ones today make it look larger. So who is correct? Besides math being used to show it's 2.8 inches and ares saying it's 2.8, we'll know when the specs are official.

I know, I like just to point out stuff like that. Plus I'm simultaneously writing a paper and so that plus all the spec weirdness today is making mego a little crazy. I probably shouldn't be replying to anything.

I'm happy to wait too--since I've been doing that since November. Despite what some people are thinking, I still believe Paris will be the phone I've been waiting for.

well dont get me wrong, paris will cater for 'most' people. 5mp, wifi, gps, uiq 3.3, hsdpa (most likely) not exactly a slouch in terms of specs now is it.
there is better to come though................

Since the P1i was announce May 8, 2007 (a Tuesday), can we expect a year anniversary with the announcement of Paris on May 6?

@Ares,

Thanks for the updated information! Glad to see that Motorola's upcoming Mobile Division seperation will STILL be committed to UIQ platform. Their going to remain in good shape. Litigation charges will be dropped as agreement for the change in the board is already under way - about damn time. CEO Zander is out the door on May 5th (retiring. More like forced). Non-Executive Chairman will be the former AT&T CEO ... the one that overseen the AT&T/Cingular split & remerger so he's very WELL suited for the split of Mobile Division of Motorola.

UIQ looks like it'll actually have a much stronger Future than it did in the past. Now I'm hoping that you'll have a similar "reward" structure for fans with blogs to increase their presence and awareness; like Nokia does for their S60. You cannot buy/beat word of mouth! However I hope internal UIQ Development teams from both Motorola & SE have workshops that'll help existing freelance developers / development teams of company's to get their apps working to perfection (at least the strive for it). You know, to work out serious bugs that have teams deciding NOT to code for UIQ phones. I for one think Motorola's Z8/10's UIQ Smartphone GUI implementation is fantastic although the layout of the menu and options pop-ups needs to have more refinement for efficient and better organization.

Now, will SE have a similar GUI for UIQ Smartphone vs a Professional touch-screen layout?

I guess Nokia is losing their innovation in design. That "Tube" is just straight from iPhone. Thank god Paris has a very small, or even no influence from iPhone.
