K850 Firmware Overview |

hmm, I turned it off every night, but I didnŽt take out the battery. IŽll try that. thanks!
All those rebooting and BROD issues make me think about what I will do if my k850 will brick for the third time. I live in Germany, and here I can get my money back (by law) and choose another phone if that happens. If I take a k850 again, will that still have those issues or did they figure it out with the newly produced phones (lets assume I would get one fresh out of the factory )? I know, BROD started with the 031 firmware, but I am still hoping this might be a hardware-software-combination-problem.
Well, best thing will be to hope for a new firmware or some miracle to prevent me from a third BROD. |

Best (and possibly ONLY) thing to do to avoid BROD - stay away from 031 and R1EA037. Otherwise, if you've had one BROD with either of these two firmwares, chances are you'll get more. I had two BRODs - one after upgrading to 031 via SEUS at which point my phone had never been touched by a 3rd party utility, and one after I fixed the 1st BROD using DaVinci to put 031 back on the phone. After that I used DaVinci to put R1CA037 back on my phone and haven't had but 3 reboots in 3 months. |

don't overload your k850 with multi tasking, it has only got a 133mhz processor, unlike its main copetetor, the n95 which can have up to 350mhz. One of the my favourites, make sure you turn of your phone, take out the battery, and then turn your phone on every 3 days or so, so many people have said to me they have had less restarts, and i know that restarts always lead to a brod.
The K850 has an ARM11 running at 220 MHz, same is the K810.

I turn my phone off every night and take the battery out regularly but it hasnt reduced my reboots or crashes, it has to be the 2 most recent firmwares and it appears too general to find any specific cause. |

No noticeable issues yet. Runs a lot quicker though. |

Do I Upgade?
I recently had my o2 branded K850i replaced by o2 for faulty touch keys - also that handset crashed alot, was slow, and the camera always over-exposed rendering it useless.
Now my replacement is perfect. camera works, it's only crashed once but not BSOD. its on R1EA031. do i upgrade or do i leave it? will the upgrade bring any benefits or is it a worthless risk to take? |

R1EA031 is also vulnerable to BROD, so ye it doesnt really matter.
037's media player is a bit faster |

I might have missed it earlier in the thread but does the R3 firmware bring new features or is special in any way? I keep hearing people talk about the R3 firmware. Just curious.
Thanks! |
