@razec
I agree with you about the 'primitive' UI. But at least all the features are there if the hardware is up to standard (eg 2.8" VGA screen). I keep thinking theres a slim chance SE have made it look cooler, just because they did it with the G900, Mizz mentioned itd be similar, and UIQ 3.3 info always states somewhere that its highly customisable. Even if its not, at least you can get 3rd party apps to do what you can. Work with theams creator to improve the look. Ive seen programmes for download to give UIQ the same sliding screensaver as the iphone. Remember that the JSR java architecture allows for more 3rd party customisation and apps than before (things like KD player, for example, which does nothing on my ol' K700, but Im sure better apps will come along). Although Im with you about the brand new UI we were looking forward to, I dont think this will be so horrible. I mean, out of the box it already looks miles better than S60 lol. If Paris is a huge success Im sure well see some cool apps for it (just like W910 got that lightsabre game, for example, lol). I dont think its even worth waiting for UIQ4. Although the interface will be much improved (gesture control?), knowing SE, a Paris standard flagship device wont be out for another year anyway. It would be great if we could pay to upgrade the phone to UIQ4 though. IMO though things like gesture control, touchscreens etc will only get better, and will take time to perfect. I plan to enjoy whats available in the meantime and when SE have it all up to standard then itll be worth considering. PK, can you shed any light on any of this? |

It looks like the main difference in UIQ 3.3 is massive use of the new Opera Mobile browser, and judging by the 9.5 video introduction it will be amazing, so I am really looking foward to seeing it in action on paris. I only hope that the screen will indeed be 2.8 VGA... If this flood of rumors and spypics continues, we should know that soon... |

P5i will have the new touchscreen UI - UIQ 4.Will have a fast CPU with around 520Mhz clock speed(may be more in fact ),GPS chip integrated.Based on Symbian 9.3 or 9.5.WiFi 802.11b/g,WAP 2.0,C++ support,a 5MP camera with AF and flash,HSDPA/HSUPA,128MB RAM are some of the specs.The phone will have VGA screen.It is said to be 2.8" but thats just a rumour.
Ok, this is from the thread that was closed. I remember one of the rumours saying UIQ 4 OR UIQ 3.2 but wonder why icaka removed it
Either way we now have UIQ 3.3 and just waiting for confirmation on screen resolution and internal hardware specs. The rest of the specs seem to be there.

Seeing some of the pre-release / leaked photos of Paris gives me some hope that have learned from the mistakes of the P990i.
The phone does seem remarkably small for a smartphone but I'm happy enough to wait for the real dimensions. Let's hope the specifications are drool-worthy too
