I have now had to re-start my phone anumber of times because of this problem.
When trying to make a call, there is no sound coming through the handset unless I select loud-speaker. Then when I transfer it back, silence again? Anyone else had this?
The only similarity in circumstance may have been that it had been connected to my car through Blue-tooth. Normally, the Blue-tooth connects and disconnects in my car ok. Once re-started, the phone is ok. Had the phone almost eight weeks and this has happened four times now and I have had to re-start to reset each time.
It has happened on both 031 and the new 037 FW's.
BTW: Once I flashed through SEUS to 037, the first switch-on failed after the 'Please-Wait' but then switched on normally. I have had no random re-boots since flashing the FW, just this Speaker Fault.
Anyone got any INFO ? |

I've had problems connecting to BT headset since I moved to 031, I dont have a car kit but both the wired and ear piece headsets wouldnt answer calls, could answer by the handset but no sound at all in the headsets, just another bug of 031 i guess.
Just checked and still no update for o2 UK. |

the reason why people get a flash burn is nothing to do with the firmware, its because the little sensor next to the light gets dirty and so it thinks its in a darker environment then it actually is and it causes the flash to go off stronger.
solution: clean it out with a toothpick every so often |

Since SE is acting like nokiu they pass lot more time in preparing the 7 next coming phones than concentrating on their actual ''best seller'' problems and support...
I am afraid that BROD will not be solved before months because they still don't accept the fact that they have build that virus theirself, and if they accept and are not finding from where it comes it's even more terrible

@jasieq,
R1EA037 never caused many problems to whoever that has updated to it except for a few unlucky person.
My K850, for example, never had any reboots since I updated to R1EA037 when the firmware has just been released.
maybe you're gonna say that BROD is not a FW prob but a hardware prob, but you must admit that there were K850 FWs (R1DA038 or CA037 for example - as I find them the most stable FWs) which never caused BROD on ANY K850 (even on these which belong to "a few unlucky ppl")
so tell me then: why SE can't release any stable FW (working perfectly on ALL K850s) any more?
long battery life and Media Player speed are more important for them than the satisfaction of ALL K850 owners?
sorry, but nobody should think that way: "heyyy, my K850 works flawlessly with this new FW, and you're just one of the "unlucky ppl minority" so shut up cuz I love SE, I love K850, I love R1EA03x, and my life is beautiful!"

@jasieq,
not that I want to defend or something, but if R1EA037 is causing less problems than the last firmware, than at least is going on the right track, except for the BROD. Damn the BROD.
I'm quite scared about the BROD. Scared that it might happen to my K850 in the next few weeks, probably it might happen to me in just a few more minutes. I certainly hope it won't happen to me and I hope will actually fix this problem in the next firmware, which is expected to be released next month. |

people from even don't know what BROD is... or maybe they just pretend they don't know?...
I really hope you (and other ppl) will never have BROD, and also that it'll be fixed in the next FW cuz it really gets me annoyed...
BTW. damn, why am I not the LUCKY K850 user?

I think SE knows about BROD, and I believe that BROD is carrier dependent - alot of O2 phones are the most common victims.
So I guess O2 and other dealers are to blame for the BROD because of firmware alterations. And of course, its a deal with SE, so SE would not be able to penetrate those dealers' activities regarding their own firmware changes.
I don't know, but maybe debranding or complete reflashing then updating is so far the best solution to BROD.
I've got an unbranded model and just modified one of LCARS Expert's flash animations. cool.. ^_^

Hey guys i think that sony just launch this 037 fix to try and slow down or eliminate this BROD problem untill the really launch this big update that is expected, but they are fully aware of this (brod) problem the k850i is a very attractive phone and if they lose on this one they will continue to lose big time ...For god sake they better solve this problem and do not launch the c902 untill they get it right because it will be the biggest disaster in cell phone history so i know and i have the confidence that are cooking up a storm for us if not , god help us all COME ON SONY COME ON you can do it
To we know its a new platform and unfortunately for us we are the gunni pigs of this but please make us smile once more let your programmers wake up fire them if you have to but the world depends on you not to mention The prestigous K850i FLAHSHIP

I had R1CA037 and for some reason SEUS wouldn't let me update. So around 2 weeks ago I decided to use Davinci and I succesfully updated my K850 to R1EA031. Some reboots here and there but all in all, a big improvement. Then a friend told me that the R1EA037 was available so I updated my phone via SEUS two days ago to the America 1 Generic version, and just a few minutes ago I got the BROD.
Any advice?? Is this a hardware issue or should I just use Davinci again to re-install the R1EA031?
is definitely NOT fixing the BROD problem with this version...

Those that think BROD is not FW related do not know what they are talking about. Read all 400 pages and see if anyone prior to 31 had BROD, as a matter of fact, BROD was coined by someone in this thread right after 31 came out. It has effected everyone from Generic to Branded and from factory flashed to 3rd party flashed. No one at this point can determine what is causing it. Those that think they see a pattern, please read the entire thread, as there is none.
There was a theory that briefly appeared stating that BROD and the restarts had something to do with the M2 card. When I reflashed due to BROD, I took out my card, then flashed w/ 31 France. I never inserted my card to see if the theory was true. I haven't had one restart in a month. I then upgraded to the new 37, initialized, restarted the phone and reinserted my card. This was over a week ago. I have yet to have a restart. I will not say that there is a strong argument for the correlation between BROD and the M2, but from my observation it can very well be. My suggestion: if you get BROD, take out the card before flashing.
Last, to those that think its an isolated incident and that BROD mostly affects branded, 3rd party flashed, or whatever else pattern that they see: I've had the same hardware, the same m2, flashed both times with davinci, yet I got BROD in a month the first time and now I've had not one restart with the same hardware and flash. Also, there are people that get a lot of restarts before BROD, which was the case with me. It gradually increased from once a day to 3-4 times a day in week right before BROD. While some never had a restart and were hit with BROD. So like a said before, there is no pattern to be figured out from the cases observed in this thread. |

VERY WELL SAID!
btw, it was me - I think - that posted a theory of the BROD in correlation to teh M2 card. Only because flashing with prior phones (K750i, W900, etc) we were advised by DaVinci to remove the external memory card prior to flashing. But again it was just a theory based on asking & suggestion of/to others to try flashing without the M2 or if they did.
I still love this phone and hoping it'll serve me well. I really want to flash to unbrand but I'm a bit hesitant; still if even a little.
Just how many firmware updates did SE do to the K750i or to the K800 before fans considered either phone to be "just right" ??

Prom1 - not sure if you were talking specifically about M2 cards, but I've had 2 BRODs with MicroSD card in my phone. The 1st one was less than a week after going to 031 via SEUS, I recovered from it by flashing with DaVinci to a Euro version of 031, and then got another BROD. Flashed again (with MicroSD both times) via DaVinci to R1DA037, adriatic and have been staying with that for over a month and a half now - no BROD, maybe 2 reboots in this whole time.
Anyways - just wanted to see if your theory was M2 specific or any memory card including the MicroSD. I have now checked with SEUS and EA037 is available for me but until all of this gets sorted out I'm hesitant to rush into it... |
