Its not out on o2 as of yet, which is strange as all the others were out with in a day of release.

Very strange in deed

Vodafone isn't out either.
They are always behind the others!

How do I know what version of firmware the phone will upgrade to before I do it. Mine is an Orange branded phone, so no idea if it is out for these yet, but do not want to end up with BROD and do not want 031 firmware that everyone is having problems with.

On SEUS it confirms the firmware you're about to update to before you click 'continue' to actually start the process

the only improvement I see in the new firmware is the GPRS Icon when surfing with a java midlet.

no speed improvement, nothing else.

Updated for the third times to R1EA037 -- still got that "Continue Anyway" button on SEUS -- vibration function on my K850i finally returns.
Thanks God.

Is there any difference between the Velvet blue firmware and the Luminous green firmware for the same firmware version? For example if have an original Velvet blue k850i, and have changed housing to Luminous Green, will i see and difference in firmware if i Reflash with Green firmware?

Cheers.

Guy i spoke with last night said the latest firmware for 3 uk was the RIEA037 and I should have been able to upgrade, however it didnt. So rang again today and they asked for my IMEI number and sent the firmware to me via FOTA, it took a while to upgrade but its now on the latest and running very well too. So basically if your stuck with 029 on 3UK ring the support line and say you are stuck on 029 firmware, they will ask you yr IMEI and then send you the firmware via a text message. If you dont recive the text from them just goto settings, general and update service. Then click search for updates, it will then allow you to download the latest update which you select yes to and let it do its stuff. The main file is about 5megs it downloads and then upgrades the firmware from that, takes about 20 mins to do but worth it.

This is excellent news - I've been stuck on 029 since Xmas when I got my phone. What's not so good is that it's not on SEUS yet - I don't fancy a 5 meg download over the air - I don't have any inclusive data on my tariff.

I haven't noticed any benefits from this update, the only thing that's changed for me is my camera's gone back to taking useless flash-burnt pictures! GRRR!! >=[

I'm geting really fed up with this phone; back when i first saw it last year the big drawing point for me was the 5mp camera on a SE phone, but its hardly even given me one decent picture. Even on the last firmware where they fixed the flash-burn all the colours were still bleached and reds were pink, its been such a disappointment this phone, i really wanted to like it even when there was so much wrong with it, but now i cant wait to get rid of it... unfortunately im still stuck with it for 12 months! They'd better get a decent firmware out soon that gives us a camera worth what this phone sells for.

@james-a-d
I have read lots of feedback on K850 on Russian forums, some say that their phones have no problems, while others say they have these common problems and flashing to new firmwares doesn't help at all.

That's why I think that there are probably something like bad consignments of phones. I don't know how to say more exact, but this is the only reason I can suggest to explain why some people are having troubles and others are not. Really strange.

Personally, I don't have any specific problems with my phone and I'm happy with it. Okay, at least satisified.

Have i got a tale for you today!

So i decided to go out to town for the day, and take my trusty K850 with me, as you do. I drive into town, and when i get out, my pocket is vibrating, and there i am with a BROD scenario, i think it did it whilst in the car but didn't notice it, take the battery out, turn it back on, all fine. Go down the street, get a couple of e-mails, then it's off again, takes two vibrations till it come back on, then i send a text message to a friend, just as the message gets sent, off again, this time i have to take the battery out again, then back on, and it takes forever to turn on, the startup graphic take sabout 25 seconds to complete, like it goes a frame at a time, now i'm getting annoyed!

It eventually shows me the standby screen, then i guess i must have got a reply to my text just then, i don't know because it vibrated to inform me of a message, but before the message tone could sound, it went off again, takes two startup vibrations, but back to life, i leave it to subside, then go to see what the text was about, it takes me about 15 secs to even scroll down to the inbox when i get to messaging. also, it restarted before the message was saved in the inbox, but must have told my operator that i recieved it, great!

Then i get an email, a new friend on facebook (yes i'm that sad, ) anyways, so i go onto mobile facebook to accept the request, loads the page, about to click accept, and its off again. Another take the battery out jobbie. so its back again. I decide to turn it off, and remove my sim and memory card, clean off the contacts, and re-insert, it works for about 4 mins, doing nothing till it restarts. I've now had enough of this, i really felt the urge to throw the damn thing at the floor!

Luckily i had my trusty S500 to hand (as you do ) so i swapped the sims round.

So all in all that was 6 restarts in the space of an hour and a half, and in that time i managed to send one text, read one e-mail, and load one webpage.

Honestly, i have spent more time trying to turn my phone on, and watch it turn off on me than actually use the stupid thing.

I also seem to be in the minority with this FW, i might re-update and see what it does.

I'm trying to like this phone, and i do, but its testing my patience!

It seems the upgrades are not solving the problems, but are causing more problems...

This is one of the reasons I returned my handset as it was giving me so many issues had enough... I can't be asked going through all of that just to send a few tx and make calls.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Cheers

Seeing about all these problems with the K850, and after finally having mine go t*ts up on me, is making want to get rid of it for a Nokia 6300 more and more.
