***********solja786**** my problem still exists. im in the correct "current time zone" and "home zone" which both are Eastern (im in ontario canada). im in the closest city possible in the list of location. i don't know what the problem is? i appreciate your help. i will continue to try and solve this.
i recently updated to the r9f firmware, befor that everything worked fine. hmmm.... i've contacted my service provider and they senta reset signal, which syned the times, but still nothing... my only guess at teh problem is , the "sms service address" under messages. i think that needs to be changed???????? |

@faz
Same thing happened to me because daylight saving time began early (March 11) in the U.S. this year. All of my messages were stamped and hour earlier than the clock on the phone displayed. The phone recognized April 1 as the beginning of daylight saving time so once that day passed everything was fine.
I'm Central, here are my settings:
Current time zone ----> Central Time
Home time zone ------> Central Time
Zone of interest -------> Greenwich Time

I seem to be unable to access the 'prefered networks' tab under control panel->connections->mobile netwoks. I was wondering if anyone else finds this, or does it only become available when you are away from your home network, ie. in another country? |

Good thought, but I wasn't, I am investigating the reason for some peoples phones (including mine) experiencing random crashes. The type of lockup whrere the phone looks fine, but it's actually stopped recieving gsm/gprs, and the power button doesn't work. |

There are three methods that I'm aware of:
1- look at this thread: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=130758&start=0
I don't think this is for the feinthearted though!
2- Do a google search for 'Kulankendi', this is a pc program that can change the CDA of your phone, so you use it to change to a 'world generic' CDA, and then update via SEUS. You need to buy a credit from the creators of thee program in order for it to function, which can take a while to come through, but it worked fine for me. if you have problems getting it to see your phone try holding the internet button on the right hand side of your phone rather than 'c' whilst plugging in the usb lead. This bug may have been fixed by now though, they have a forum that has a walkthrough.
3- Take/post your phone to a specialist such as http://www.kingmobilephone.com/
Good luck!!

visit this thread: accessing service menu. in there you will find how to access the service menu and there you will find info about your firmware version.
world generic is a type of customization that your phone has. ie: those phones that are not branded by any operator.
i may be wrong though.

Help me please
I found that phone won't restart after upgrade.
It lasts till selection of flight mode or phone mode and then freezes.
Only solution is to reflash it everytime:( |

Hi, Vodafone have just convinced me to have a P990i instead of a Nokia N95 on an 18 month contract. I'm really undecided about it, can you guys in the know tell me if you think it'll be good for another 18 months bearing in mind SE's recent announcement on support.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help! |

@chrisnewman, I'd personally wait and hope that we get the P1 in and go for that instead
