I have been reading a number of threads here and it seems doing the following will bring up the hidden or service menu.

jog dial up one click only
* on the keypad
jog dial down one click only
jog dial down one click only
* on the keypad
jog dial down one click only
* on the keypad

however, in flip closed, jog dial up gives me the same menu as if i was pressing the APP key (upper right button). i thought perhaps i had assigned a this as hotkey in one of my apps. i make sure i close all the apps, but jog dial up still gives me the same menu (1. turn on silent, 2. call list, 3. ring volume...etc).

anyone has any idea how to get rid of this as i would like to get into the service menu.

Jogdial up & down mean the rolling directions! As in up (^) and down (v) not towards & away.

Third option in the service menue is Service Functions. Selecting this would prompt you a question:
Are you sure you want to format your internal disk?
1 for NO
2 for Yes

I did not know you can actualy format your internal disk. Has any body done this? What will happen and how do you install the OS back if you select option 2 there....

Good question. Is the OS gone after formatting?

Nahhh, seems unlikely it would mean it would format itself.

@sfaguy

If you have difficulties with the jog dial, u can use the keypad:

1 x right / * / 2 x left / * / 1 x left / *
