I've never had an 'x', but i've had different letters to the top right of my signal on my K850i. I have definately had an 'e' and a 'g'...Does anyone know what these mean?

'E' - Edge
'G' - GPRS
There are to do with data transfer rates... Edge being the faster one... IT tells you what you have available in the area your in...
Cheers

GPRS has always been faster than EDGE for me though. |

Not there,in the right part of the level signal(like new message icon),it's a phone with a "x" on top. |

On Orange UK I can never get the internet to work when on Edge, just doesn't connect.
3G and GPRS works fine tho... |

OK cheers SE-Naz. I've heard that a new firmware will be released around 10th Dec. Its supposed to be a major update so it should fix loads of problems. When I download MP4 videos the sound is always out of sync, I hope that will be fixed in the update... |

For me with generic firmware on Vodafone, I seem to get the 'H' icon when in a 3G are and the '3G' icon when in a HSDPA area. Seems strange

alanjrobertson - Tell me about it! I have a t-mobile branded K850i and really am bored of waiting for the new firmware. Do you think we'll have to wait until the 10th Dec? I called t-mobile and they don't seem to know what I am talking about with regard to the firmware and flash; they keep on saying that it's the way I hold the camera!
I suppose the 10th is only a week away now but now hardly use the web on the phone for fear of it rebooting. Thankfully still seems OK in modem use.
