Greetings...
I got my K850 back from CPW last Friday after over 2 weeks being repaired for the droopy middle button issue. This morning I woke up to find that the regular reset had resulted in a BROD
I've had a BROD before and fixed it with Da Vinci. However that seemed to change the CDA even though I chose "Same CDA" for the firmware. Rather than wait two weeks for CPW to fix it again, I wish to do so myself, so :
1) Which is best, Da Vinci or the other one with the funny name?
2) Can I "fix" my CDA by putting it back to the same as it was before?
3) Which firmware should I be going for to avoid future BRODs?
Cheers,
Kev
1. maybe you are referring to KulanKendi.. that's the one i used to fix my BROD problem.. its good.. only took me like 10-15mins and its over.
2. no idea.
3. 037, no doubt. and wait for the next "stable" firmware.
cheers! |

I always thought that I was the only one with the touchscreen issue (pressing down = pressing middle key)
i had mine repaired last February and repairs took one month due to parts logistics (that's what they said)
Good thing is they reflashed my phone using their server ( I think its EMMA). Its been a month, and its zero BROD.
The only thing now is the for the new firmware (I hope its R3Axxxx) to make phone faster. 031 is still bullsh........t

No you're not the only one mate. On mine though, pressing any button at all = pressing the middle key aswell as pressing the button that you actually pressed.
I hope mine doesn't take a month to repair. I start a new job in 2 weeks so will have to return the phone that I've borrowed!!
I'm not even sure I want my K850 back now TBH, I really, really like the Nokia 6300 that I've got!! |

I am fan of SE phones... but now am really fed up of this cr@p.
1. Always FW problems and takes time to fix it
2. For same price I cna get another phone with Wi-Fi.... what the hell...this K850 is top of SE camera phones and no wi-fi module..... really pissing me off.... My next phone WON'T be SE unless it will have good design (as usual for SE), good camera ( 100% SE does it! ), good FW ( SE's is good but always buggy ) and WIFI!

No it seems to be a commmon fault as when i rang Orange after they checked for a diagnosis over the computer all they said was have you tried a master reset if you can, answer yes, right we'll send a replacement out tomoro you can choose when you want ti delivered. So a lot of companies are now just replacing rather than repairing. Then letting SE deal with the repair, the only thing im unusre of now is to debrand now or wait for R3 or the next stable firmware

The gits aren't replacing mine. They've sent it straight back to a repair agent which I'm not happy about.
My mate had the same problem, he's with O2 Online exactly like I am, and not only did they replace his faulty blue & silver phone, they replaced it with a brand new black & silver one!! |

i'm guessin it depends if you get a nice call centre person or a horrible one, and yeah i wondering if i'd get the blue one or the green one as ive seen some Orange replacements be the green one, but mine was the blue, not complaining, because its brand new so im happy

Same thing happened to me: the flash stopped working on my original blue & silver phone , so O2 sent me a refurbished one with a cr@p battery. I complained, so they sent me another refurb. I complained more loudly and they sent me a brand new black & silver one |

does anyone know of a program that can backup SE phones and then import to a nokia ... including dictionary?
Getting bored of the random reboots, but I think there's things that can't be fixed with firmware like it being unusably slow when playing music over bluetooth and not having a caller blacklist....and the fact it's looking tatty after a few months.
Not sure how easy it'll be to send back and get something else this far in tho! |

Yeh it does. My mate spent 5 minutes on the phone to them sorting it, and he got a door step swap out. I spent about 2 hours on the phone to them and they would not budge from telling me I had to send it back before receiving a replacement. In the end I took it to an O2 store instead. I was told on the phone that they weren't bothering replacing them, they were just swapping them so I would be sent a replacement as soon as my phone was received back. If I'd known the store were going to send it to a repair agent then I wouldn't have bothered going to them. |

1. Yes but I re-used DV. Couldn't be bothered getting new app etc.
2/3. Gone for the O2 037 which is a different CDA anyway, will look at restoring once a working fw is out! |

Question about the K850 physically. What is the thing on the front of the phone in the top left, Left of the ear speaker. It is like a small transparent hole. What does it do? |

It's a light sensor to automatically adjust the screen's brightness against the surroundings. |
