@zillertaler, I just felt I should say this (and I believe there are others out there who share my sentiments), MyPhoneExplorer is actually one of the deciding factors when I decide to get a new phone. It's such a great piece of software that it swings the balance in Sony Ericsson's favour whenever I can't make up my mind over which phone to get.

I don't need MyPhoneExploer to convince me to buy SE, but recently for example I wondered if I could get by with the N73 rather than the K800, and among a few reasons (chiefly SE UI, and better camera), I realised I'd have to use the Nokia PC Suite and I'd lose the trouble free synchronising that MPE does. (MPE is one of the few apps where you can actually make it prompt you for every sync transfer so you can be sure the STUPID syncml rules aren't deleting something you want)

@max, I don't need MPE to convince me to get an SE either, but it sure helps! In any case, the one thing that roots me firmly to SE is the UI, love it. That's also the reason why I'm gonna get a K610 on contract instead of the Nokia 6300 or RAZR V6 MAXX. Those two are attractive phones with great features. But the thought of having to give up the SE UI is too much to bear.

oh don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to sound unenthusiastic! It's a big part of why I choose SE. I mean SE phones are good, they don't need thirdparty software to make them great, however I reckon if SE bundled MPE, there would be a lot less software related complaints about SE phones. For example the crappy SE File Manager in SE PC Suite, is very touchy and disconnects at teh drop of a hat etc, it's just plain buggy. It makes the SE handset look dodgy, as if it has connection problems, but it's just the software. If they had MPE's stable and cached file transfers, then it would help avoid stupid software making the phone look bad.

@max, don't worry mate, I know what you mean. I believe earlier on in this thread I also expressed that MPE should be bundled with SE phones, it works so much better! I don't even bother installing the SE PC Suite these days.

Indeed! I feel he more than deserves that position as it is now. MPE is such a great piece of software, zillertaler really should get more credit for it than he already does from us.

I for one share your sentiments deluded! I mean to get a smartphone and not enjoy half of the convenience that MPE affords to my Java phone when it comes to PC connectivity... MPE makes my SE K610 a plug-and-play device, how do you top that! |

I've bought a Nokia and a Samsung in the last six months because the prices were so low I couldn't resist. Both are nice, fully featured phones, but I gave the 6234 to my son and the Z400v slider to my wife; because though the Nokia D-pad and UI weren't to my liking, likewise the Samsung non-changable themes and poor media player respectively, the thing that I can't live without is MPE connectivity. It is a deal-breaker for sure.

Exactly! It's definitely great to know I'll be able to transfer my contacts and calendar events, etc from my old phone to my new one without much hassle. And if I'm not wrong, using bluetooth, I don't even need to install any drivers for my phone (someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I have installed drivers for my K750i previously, so I can't say for sure) in order to use MPE.

No problems. Great software. I rely heavily on it, especially the backup. It's saved my life a few times! |
