No need for service center anymore. freedom from nosy service center personnel asking why I need to upgrade the firmware.
S700 will definitely have this feature, too, but where is my S700?! |

Excellent! One thing I don't get is shouldn't your update bring the phone to R2E011, the firmware just announced?
That being said, any noticeable differences with new firmware? |

can we please keep this thread to discuss the update procedure and use the following thread to discuss the actual changes in the new firmware.
New Firmware K700 - R2E011
as we try and keep a thread for each firmware version for reference
thanks!

I also have a syncstation from an old P800, but as mentioned earlier in a post when I try to install it says DCU-11. Does this mean I cant upgrade with this syncstation?
I have tried on one computer, but got a critical java error while starting the application
The computer I tried it on had sun java SDK installed. I will try with another computer wich doesnt have this...

the upgrade process specifcially says you need a DSS-20 or DSS-25 sync station so the assumption is a DSS-11 will not work

Yes, this connection error is not just due to the computer, because I was running my P900 without any problem on that one... |

this is the screen where is says the requirements to perform an update
it says "I have installed and connected a SyncStation to my PC - not all SyncStations supports this service. The label on the bottom of your SyncStation should say DSS-20 or DSS-25."

@masseur We guessed that part, but the question is have we been ripped off, by being given DCU-11 NOT EVEN DSS BUT DCU-11 sync-stations? Can anyone with the first P800 to hit the market check that out? |

I don't understand the comment "ripped off"
P800 came out a year before online updates were available and took the DCU-10 cable, made some changes (not sure what) and produced the DCU-11 cable which they also used in the P800 sync station (actually I vaguelly recal l the first P800 came with DCU-10 in the sync station)
presumably there is some technical difference in the DSS that they made in order for the update to work but which is not available in the DCU because they hadn't thought about online updates at that time.
as technology moves forward why do people always feel "ripped off" because what they have doesn't work in the future
btw, you can buy a DSS-25 for 15 pounds on ebay, I got a spare one from there

My apologise for this being slightly off topic... But my k700 would connect to my DSS-25 at all??
The story so far...
Somewhere on a sync station far far away...
It was a dark time for the sync stations... Mine won't bloody recognise my k700!! I've tried everything!! I've even uninstalled all my P900 PCsuite stuff(i know i'm gonna regret that, probably never work again) and reinstalled the k700 pc suite but it still just says not connected when i sit the k700 on the stand?? The green light comes on?? Anyone point me in the direction of the correct thread for this or help me out here? Desperate for a fw upgrade!!

did you disable USB in the P900 "phone connection link" (in system tray), take note of the com port that that USB was connected to and then activate that com port in mobile phone manager?
edit: I'm also assuming that you have the K700 sync software installed?
