Yeah there was a post earlier today about new firmware but the guy never said any code. They just said that the service center told him there was a new one recently but he was to far to drive to check it out.

people tend to worry far too much about firmware upgrades and moreso when they are not even having a problem. the old addage is "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

I think because people on forums like this get more detailed info and more involved with their phones than the ordinary man on the street we tend to always want the latest firmware regardless of whether it does anything for us

I gave in my phone this Sat, 10th July to the 3 Service center in HongKong, due to auto-restarts and hanging problems. They dint mention anything about a new firmware, and instead said they would replace me with a new k700i, sometime this week.

Havent checked with the Hong Kong, SE Service center tho.

I sent an email to sony ericsson regarding the bugs reported and if there was actually a firmware developed to deal with this but so far i havent recieved a reply so i cant really confirm on any new firmware.
One question though, is it possible to upgrade the firmware yourself or must you take it to some service center and do they charge you for the services?

Could someone who updated to R2E for K700i please post some notes about if it fixes problems like the bluetooth and battery issue.

Thanks

@ Cytech: Do you have any idea when the first new K700 firmware will be released? Do you know if the T610 will get more updates in the future?

Thanks

R2E (which this discussion is about... I think ) is the first firmware to be release to the servicepoints for upgrading (R2A for some as stated in the list above), and it's available to the servicepoints. There might be future releases for T610, you never know
