Firmware version in Asia is R2B. What are the languages available in your phone? They wont upgrade a different software other than the one offered by your local SonyEricsson service center. However there is an option to override software in your phone, thus completely making it an asia version. Ask your local service center about this? Different service center offers different software version. In the phil. Semicon offers Indonesia version, while Smartnet offers Asia version, the one with tagalog version...

ca_abarro,
I have check in ESC in Malaysia, they told me that mine is in European Type 2 version and they don't there to upgrade it! Is this silly! or what? 1 question that I would like to ask, is there possible to overwrite the version of software from other country. what i mean is i would like to get an asian version which support chinese character. ESC told me that they have 3 asian version. Currently I'm using T68 and support Deutsch, English, Francais and Italiano. Izzit possible ? Anyone of you all knows about this ? |

Forgive me I am not in a good mood today after a very frustrating and dissapointing experience I had with Smartnet earlier. It was a shitty experience. The complete story
@Roberto, @dan47, R2B (Semicon's R2B, sans Tagalog) is quite stable. What I appreciate most is that it fixed the GPRS problem before where the only solution is to remove the battery. With Smartnet's R2B (WITH FIXED MEDIUM FONTS IN LISTS) it already hang on me twice while using Ericsson phone book manager and Ericsson Phone settings! I hate this, but does not have a choice because it is what I have now on my "newly replaced T68" (sic) I don't understand these two R2B versions.

rhenzhen,
ako! I was able to upgrade my indonesian version t68 (i had bahasa with my R1B and i have INDONESIAN WARRANTY printed at the back of my phone) to R2B at smartnet. I got a version which now has tagalog but no font consistency. I think this is the asian version? I mean, having tagalog? |

All I can say is that the R2B of Smartnet is bwiset. I had more problems today with their R2B than I ever had with my old T68. FYI, Smartnet replaced my T68 today (old one developed joystick and keypad problem).
This is my latest email to SonyEricsson.
a) This phone resets itself many times today than my old T68 did in two weeks!
b) 10:36PM
The phone ran out of battery, i.e., got the low battery warning. So, I plugged the charger and turned off the phone. To my surprise, it did not show the message battery charging! In fact, I cannot turn it on anymore! I removed the connection to the charger and the red LED is still lit! See picture. What's wrong with this phone?
c) This phone also contained an R2B software with a cosmetic problem with fonts. The problem is that regardless of the font size setting, lists such as phone book, bookmarks, inbox, etc., appears in medium font. The R2B of my old T68 which was upgraded at Semicon, does not have this problem. The kicker here is that Semicon's R2B does not have Tagalog while Smartnet has. I don't care about Tagalog which is only available for menus and not T9. Don't tell me I have to go to Semicon again for another R2B upgrade?

arnoldc.. u think u dont have any luck w/ t68? second unit na, problem pa rin?
have it replace again, "wont charge" thing is a big problem, mine b4 was "wont full charge" and was replaced by smartnet, w/ R2B
i got to hold my t68 earlier, wasnt abt to check the font inconsistency... it's in the midium font kasi... all are in medium font.
ill check my sis's t68 tom am, ill check the font inconsistency.. she is using big font, updated at smartnet.
nothing special w/ tagalog version, coz i dont think ull use that.. imagin, tagalog menus? no tagalog in T9..

abt the font thing,
can you guys check the profiles? it might be at large font.
and on your display it might be at medium.
i think ericsson has a mistake w/ that, they shld not put font setting in the PROFILE and font setting at the DISPLAY |

@dan47, it's not a profile thing I can tell you that. When you use Settings -> Display -> Font Size, you are changing the font size of your "current profile". When you use profile settings for the font, then you are changing the font size of the "selected profile". |

Well after upgrading my T68 to semicon from R1B to R2B, its been three days now, everythings really fine!!! What I love the most right now is the small font setting!! I can now see more list in my phone book and I can now see the whole name, not some part of the name. Its now more stable, never experience hang-ups the past three days, a little faster especially wap over gprs!!!
About the tagalog thing, I do love that but I vote for the small font setting, tagalog is of little use to me, since menu title looks better on English! I have seen the tagalog language set on my friends T68, looks out of this world!! hehehe! For some, dont be offended...Its just my opinion...but if it could be included in 1 package, well thats good!!
