Philippine T68 Indonesian Warranty SW |

I own a T68 vR1B, and I want to upgrade the firmware version. So I went to SMARTNET, an service center, unfortunately, they cannot upgrade the SW of my phone, coz they say that it is an "Indonesian Warranty" as it says on the back of my phone. Meaning they cannot upgrade a phone with a different SW. If they cannot do it, who else will? A Nokia service center!!! Same thing with SEMICON, they say that they are also using same equipments with SmartNet, sucks!!!
I bought this phone in a none authorized dealer and I just want to assasinate them!!! I know that I've made a mistake but who cares It's still an Ericsson phone after all.
I also wrote an email to Ericsson Philippines, about my situation but until now they haven't responded!!!
If I will not be able to upgrade the firmware then if MMS comes then I have a T68m unit without this feature, sounds weird!!
If there are other T68 owners out there who have upgraded there firmware with "INDONESIAN WARRANTY" in the back of there phone, please let me know how and where!!!
Thank you, any info will be greatly appreciated!!!

where did u buy the unit?
i dont think there will be problem upgrading the software, they will just overwrite everything... just like a pc, same computer with window 3.1 upgrade to win95 to win98 to win2000.
i guess they dont want to service units that are not bought from authorize dealers.. one way of getting back at ppl who buys unit cheaper. its an evil plot
worst... u just use it n never upgrade it anymore.
ship or go to indonesia? for upgrades? |

I bought the T68 unit in greenhills, coz its a lot cheaper to buy there...
They are askin for a fee for those units that are not cover by the companys warranty.
This is their way of getting back who bought units at lower rate. Isn't that enought. Coz if you bought the unit at their company, firmware upgrade is free.
I'll ship it where? to indonesia, where in indonesia? how much will I spend and how long will it take?

is that the unit w/ chinese character on it's keypad? beside the number?
if theres no prob, then u dont need to upgrade it.
if u want to ship to indonesia, check out the website of ericsson indonesia and call them up and ask. u got 1 problem, they r not fluent in english.. but it's worth the try.
or try to befriend a technician of smartnet or semicon.
i have my prob w/ my t68 too... but this is under warranty...read my T68 sucks |

tsk tsk.
that's a big prob pare.
kaya ayoko sa mga stalls and greenhills bumili eh...
no, dont ship it back to indonesia, that silly!
just persuade them....persuade.
there is only one T68.
there is only one way of upgrading it.
there is only one phone port.
so there can be no way that it's true that they cant upgrade it.

No, It doens't have those chinese characters beside them, It's like any other Grey T68m you see on the market. The only difference is at the back say that "Indonesian Warranty". I dont event have a chinese language, just english, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Yes, theres not much problem, just kinda slow in text, t9 input, I use them a lot...besides if mms comes, its stupid that I have a T68m unit but not having this features...

I bought my t68 in HK and it also says Indonesian Warranty at the back. I haven't had it taken for upgrading, but i plan to when i have some time. Have you tried the SonyEricsson center the others have gone to? The one in Pasig? |

lilalf, the one in pasig? Is that semicon? I've tried to call the semicon main and they said that they are also using same equipments as SmartNet, I haven't tried, maybe Its worth a try but I just dont wanna be dissapointed again, Im from makati pa, goes a long way even longer than the time to upgrade.
After all they're going to tell you that they cannot do it....shame...I hope not, coz its my last hope!!! Im going there next Saturday...I'll post the result here. |

They say its at the 7/F Octagon Bldg. in Pasig. I think thats the SonyEricsson office here.
Shucks, ako rin Indonesian Warranty eh. R1B, bought in HK. Sana makahanap tayo ng pag-uupgradean. Di ko lang maintindihan kung ano diperensya nung atin sa iba? Ano nga ba? |

Hmm ... i don't think it's a matter of where the warranty is being offered (ie Indonesia) but the hardware that you got on your phone.
I got the same prob with my T39 (which came from Germany), the local ericsson office informed me that they didn't have the hardware to upgrade the firmware then. (Though, someone said they have it now and I haven't verified it by myself yet).
Other than the hardware, the other issue is the once with "c" or chinese input capability. Their upgrades are not the same as their "regular" cousins. |

Yes your right, theres a 1 bar missin. That is if you charge when the unit is off, then when turned on 1 bar of power is missin. I dont know about this behavior but if you charge when the unit is power on, then it is able to make the power meter full!! |

Semicon won't upgrade phones which were not bought from any of their branches. We know this wrong because it's exactly opposite from what Ericsson's world-wide warranty states. But there isn't much choice since they have a monopoly of /// service points in the country (or at least conspire with SMARTnet to only freely service phones they have distributed), "offering to pay them" for the upgrade- is just like invoking service on a Semicon-bought phone with an expired warranty. Based on experience, they should be more accomodating when you bring out the dough. Badtrip lang.. but it'll get the job done. Goodluck...

Semicon does not have the "monopoly"
You got the SmartNet alternative, or go directly to the Ericsson office. |
