It's great to see you all bubbly and excited that a feature similar to SE's (patented) accelerometer will be available for Nokia too. So now we know

Without offence, this review just regurgitates the review of the SE-friendly reviewer at mobile-review.com
I understand that i put this review as it was someone elses thoughts to add to the discussion.

SE patented? Are you joking? Accelerometer technology has long been used before SE. You remember Nokia 5500? - the sports S60 phone. Or the Iphone?
Anyway the K850 accelerator implementation is retarted. It is only activated when viewing pictures. In the N95 it works for the entire UI. |

N95 does turn landscape only when slide upwards, even in the gallery. Not automatic like the iphone and k850.

you forget about W710 matey
N95 accelerometer works entirely in the whole UI? when? i think when N95 was released. originally it's accelerometer was only for taking pictures, not for autorotating, it's not that long ago that someone discovered that it's accelerometer can be used for autorotate - and the funny thing was that it was only discovered when W910 and K850 already sports the autorotation. seems that nokia modders wants to imitate iphone and K850/W910 autorotate as they are jealous to them
" It is only activated when viewing pictures. "
You failed to do your research once again matey
K850 accelerometer is used for the following:
-gaming (have you played marble madness)
-Media manager(are you familiar with the PSP like interface in K850? )
-music playing or shaker(if flashed to W910 firmware)
-3rd Java Applications (if someone would create an app like step counter, or W580 like sport applications, most powerful capability of k850's motion sensor )
and the motion sensor in K850 has many more possibilities other than that - thanks to it's native support via java API actually the autorotate can be used for menu autorotate if ever hackers/modders/developers would liked it. but they don't because it's not that useable as the upright position usage is already convenient.

True. Maybe some people find the auto-rotate nifty to have. (For me, I dont mind so much as I can always slide the keypad to go into landscape. No accidentally activation).
And there is no need to hack/mod like flashing K850 with W910 firmware to have the shake feature I bet very soon somebody will write a simple app to do just this for the N95. I also bet the step counter app will soon surface for N95. And from here, it would be not difficult to write a plug-in which mimics the pressing of the direction keys. So you can play any of the existing games (without modding) using the accelerometer.
Lesson here is that the one-year-old N95 can whoops K850 on this supposedly novelty functions.

IF N70 has the built-in accelerator chip, the it would also whoops K850 in this aspect as well. (Is what you want me to say...haha) |

No one spotted out UI speed camera focusing speed and saving speed. How the contenders perform?
Moreover, will N95 black sport a proper flash?
About the quality: at the moment N95 picture quality is better. But probabily it's a matter of time, till shaped K850 firmware will gain in terms of quality.

Ooh...Nokia 5500, iPhone, cutting edge stuff huh? What's this then?

It even became quite big and was settled at the courts and you think I'm joking. So know we know the kind of crap you fill this forum with, just to take quick bash at SE. Why you go out of your way to do this is beyond me. I'm just gonna go ahead and ignore you after this just like what I'm doing with mario2004 because like him, you don't offer anything useful aside from giving comfort to Nokia lovers

that's if N70 has native support for accelerometer! which is not because of it's lower version of symbian

Expect better graphics, more animations and better menu transitions/personalization ever in an SE phone! - i would be glad to see it based on symbian 9.5 as well
sorry, off-topic

**Love my K750i and currently use W850i**
Fellas, excellently entertaining posts! I haven't posted here in ages.
At the moment I'm torn between K850i and N95 8GB ver.
I'm a long-time SE user and just love their phones and UIs. But I definitely have to say that the N95 8GB is a heavy contender and if it weren't for my preference in SEs I would have and still thinking of going N95 8GB.
To me SE blew it when they decided not to incorporate GSM/EDGE/850 in their W960, then I had to come down and look at the W910, because well it had GSM 850 (BTW I'm on US AT&T network). BUT the darn thing (W910) didn't have a flash or auto-focus. It was everything I wanted: a slider, walkman and picture camera. BUT NO FLASH!!! You guys don't understand how handy the light feature comes in.
So fine, after all that I was seriously considering the N95 8GB (still am). But alas came the ugliest SE I've seen in a while the K850i!!!! Okay, so good camera (check), light (check), and the deal breaker. 3.0 MUSIC PLAYER.
First and foremost I look for the music player and bluetooth 2.0 A2DP because my car stereo supports it (The JVC KD-BT1).
Finally! Looks like the K850i is the winner. It even has the novelty accelero-thingy. I own a Nokia N73 and I still prefer the Sony UI, its just better IMO. I like little things like how caller ID pictures are displayed, the way the contacts are layed-out. Yes, I'm very picky. If my W850i had auto-focus and GSM 850 with just EDGE, that would be it for me.
I better wrap this up, as I can get carried away easily. Now finding the K850i with everything I needed aesthetics aside. I can live with an ugly phone.
Now a couple of questions about N95 8GB and wifi phones in general. Can you access for example a LAN share, SAMBA or windows files shares via WIFI? Or is it purely for internet access? Also what type of encryption does it use, WEP and WAP PSK-Shared Key etc?
I know the K850i has no wifi, I can live with that and a smaller screen which in turn yields better battery life. 2.2 is about as low as I would go buying a new phone. Other than that, the only thing that would keep me from getting the K850i is a W920i or something that has everything this puppy does, minus a megapixel or two.
Damn that was too long.
EDIT** BTW does the K850i have the light feature?

@sighup
seems you have already decided on what phone you are getting
k850 does indeed have the torch feature... it has a xenon flash for photos, and 3 leds for video recording and the 'torch'
