"File transfer" - make the phone work like a card reader. If you select this, the phone restarts, and Windows should detect a new hardware and after installing the drivers, the phone memory and memory stick should appear as two different hard drives in My Computer/Windows Explorer. Unlike W800, W810 doesn't require separate driver installation because Windows & the phone do it automatically for you if you choose "File Transfer".
I second this. That's the beauty of USB mass storage. You plug it in, it just works without fussing about drivers. I still hope mass storage-enabled phones mount as a drive even in phone mode though. That file manager is a pain to use |

That would be nice if true .Are you sure about that? I thought the drivers where installed when installing the PC suite.
It would have been even greater if it didn't need drivers to install at all. Just like generic USB mass storage. This way it would be recongnized on nearly all operating systems |

@wisam, Yes, it's true.
It's been like that since the release of W550 and W900. |

Great!
It is a generic usb mass storage device. I've just mounted it on Linux.
If only it doesn't drop calls and the hissing noise I would be walking the streets recomending it. |

i've noticed this too,
in w800/k750 :
the ringing volume is 2 times higher then the media player volume ,
and when it's on a table the volume goes higher and higher
in w810 :
the ringing volume stills the same or goes lower then media player volume
a so expensive phone does not respond to the defaults norms (ringing volume is very important i think ,don't you?)!!!!
big problem since it's not possible to listen incoming calls when i'm outdoor , or ....an advise : never leave the w810 upon a bed or something like that , it'll be totally muted ,
w800 can be heard on extreme conditions!!!
i think it's the only disadventage of w810 compared to w800/k750 ,and hope it's only software diffrence and will be fixed on incoming releases of the firmware

right now we're on the ringtone volume on this two device.. well if you prefer good quality sound and a lot more feature, obviously the EGDE though .. just go for the W810i.. for the W800i, the ringtone volume was indeed loud but loss some quality for it.. so, its your decision..

for me w800 ABSOLUTELY:
-Even thuogh w810 has great design, w800 also has one but its colors are unique (WHITE AND ORANGE)
-The joystick is no more a problem NOW, in the ultimates w800 the joystick has been changed, the orangre rubber has completely changed and there is no way it can fall. And everything of the joydtick has been changed so there are no problems.
-I've tried both and w800's battery lasts longer, and that is very important considering it is a walkman phone
-Sound quality is the same in both
-Lens protector is very nice and useful
-Standby clock
-W810 when you touch yo fell to much that itm is plastic, not the case of w800 (look for w810 and w800 comparissons)
hope i've been helpful |

hummm , i'just changed from w800 to 810 cause i don't like the display quality on w800 and LOVE the w810 high contasted display; about the EDGE ,it's not used here where i live (used in north of america only) ; i like the speedy software also in w810 especially when zooming a picture ,it' goes very quickly compared to w800/k750

Hmmm,..has anyone here flashed a K750 with a W810 firmware? I wonder what the result is if ever it was possibly done. I handled a W810, i liked it except for the body design. I preferred the K750's looks and lens cover,...and it's way cheaper than the W810, hehehehe! |

most of you are forgeting the WALKMAN HISSING on the w810i that can NEVER be fixed. It can be fixed on the w800i.
Important...the walkman hissing is the worse ever mp3 player. |

Its not a life threatning problem, most people can live with it, considering its not a dedicated MP3 player, and just a phone with MP3 capabilities. |
