I truly hope so, but I don't think they'll be releasing it anytime soon.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. I didn't read that Nokia had SAID the EOS is to be announced or is definate. But reading the Nokia Blog,Windows Phone Central etc daily has revealed many RUMOURS which have in the end always become true. Nokia wasn't very good at keeping the Lumia 928 secret and for a while now this EOS/Catwalk or whatever it might be called, since last year Nokia actually did say they do plan a Windows phone device with an 808 style camera. This Nokia did say but I read it last year cannot remember where. That wasn't a rumour. A source from Nokia said they are planning something big for WP!!

I don't know what is definate tomorrow which models it will be. But I think Nokia is going to also do a Samsung and cater for all sizes and prices still. Like the Lumia 625 with a HTC Titan sized 4.7 inch display but on a cheaper budget like the 620. The rest is going to be high end. Anyway, sorry going off topic

Smartphone camera super test: Nokia 808 Pureview vs Nokia NSeries N8 Vs Samsung GS4 vs Lumia 920 Pureview

In certain conditions even the iPhone 5 comes close, just like the gs4... and the 808 has to be on auto mode. If you know what you are doing, the difference in HQ is obvious.
Also, if you take the camera package as a whole: stills, low light performance, xenon, zoom, video HQ, video zoom, sound recording..
.. no contest

I didn't know 808 can't go as near to an object (15cm) as the other high-ends when it comes to macro shots. The test was nice, though we all know 808 can deliver much more outside its auto settings. But in all fairness, S4's auto competed very well with the 808. Gotta give it to Samsung's software guys, they managed to create an aggressive but intelligent image post-processing, unlike the Xperia's (or at least the recent) heavy and reckless algo. |

Not really coz Samsung images look un natural with too much sharpening, look too processed compared to the natural look of Nokia 808 images. Samsung GS4 doesn't no way near compete at night images or indoors either. As i always say it depends who's behind that lens as i often get good images out of even average cameras. Imo these tests are never accurate.

The S4 compensates its smaller sensor with its intelligent image post-processing creating a seemingly noiseless photo which might make it look unnatural but only when zooming in. 808 has the upper hand for having a huge sensor with a large pixel area and utilizes it for oversampling the images when set to lower image resolutions, if I got that right. Nonetheless, both praiseworthy camera phones. |

Its not just the jpeg processing... the gs4 has a very strong DSP chip which helps a bunch with audio q and image q
With the digital zoom, the 15cm limit is not that limiting at all |

Well it didn't happen today did it.
I don't think it ever will at this rate. The 808 has been out well over a year and by smartphone lifespan terms, its totally obsolete. Nokia should have released a WP variant by now.
Disappointed today is an understatement, if expected of Nokia however.
