Maybe its the fact i havent slept in 48 hours or the fact that ive just had 3 cups of coffee.... But is it possible that all these pictures of the hermione are fake and put out by sony ericsson to build up even greater hype for when their next pxxx(x) is released???? Perhaps this could be a marketing ploy to attract the hardcore se fans??? |

Quite possibly, Although in my opinion, If I was going to do something like that then I would of had a better design and would of leaked so hardcore specs with it...

I was at a mobile conference over the weekend,
Spoke to one of the guys at the SonyEricsson stand and he said there is only one device coming out i.e. hermione and he said it won't be called p950 and it would be available in Feb next year.
I deduced from his expression and so on and my understanding of people that he doesn't know the whole SE range, so there might just be only 1 smartphone from sonyericsson and that we are likely to see the hermione launch towards the end of this year and be available in the mainstream towards Feb 2006.
on the other hand he could've been well informed and speaking the truth and my assumptions are wrong and there is only 1 p series device coming out next year Feb.
Any thoughts?

There are a number of references to the release of the new P series being in February next year so perhaps this is the case. If SE are looking at a 3G device with WiFi (for example) in a small form factor (eg Moto A1000 as opposed to the i-Mate JasJar (or jamjar )) I suspect this will be technically challenging and therefore will take time. I prefer to wait as I think SE will "break the mould" and release something innovative.

I don't think I quite believe that we'll wait so long for the P950. We never have had P-series leaks a long time before the actual announcements. SE might be trying to raise hype but turn around and release completely different. Right now I just want a SE announcement, it doesn't really matter what will be announced.

Finally I got it comfirmed by myself. I know a guy who imports the phones to iceland. He told me that the pictures which were on http://hermione.cogia.net/ where the same ones that showed him... he knows that the hermonie will be with windows operating system and that those pictures where a idea that came up with, but it's not final version.... So yes, those pictures are real, but we don't know anything of if it will be relased... so know I know that.... I will post here as soon as I get More news...
and yeah btw. does anyone remember the email that the guy on http://hermione.cogia.net/ had?

What? Could it be SE leave SymbianOS UIQ for Windows Mobile OS ? Hhmmm... sounds interesting to me.
I hope SE could produce a smartphone with Windows Mobile OS... but I doubt it will have a touch screen feature if SE use WM2k3 for Smartphone.

Well I was a bit surprised that they are moving from symbian to windows, as then old P-series apps wont work, and the phone will be pretty diffrent from the old ones.... But my mate at told me that this is in the step to bring pda's and phones together... Im about 99.9% sure it will have tuchscreen |

Hmmm...I'm sorry but I'm not convinced by this mate. SE Developer World is focusing a lot of attention on the Smartphone Show next month and are also the headline sponsors of the event...they have been marketing it for months on their site and sent out several developer newsletters highlighting the fact! It would make NO sense at all to chage platforms at this moment in time. You need to build a relationship with the developers to encourage application development and this does not generally include telling everyone one thing, one minute, and then completely back tracking the next. I don't pretend to have any connections in the industry but based on SE's investment in symbian and the fact they've repeatly said they'd be developing on Symbian OS I'd fully expect at least one UIQ launch within the next month or two...why change?...the only compelling reason I can think of is ActiveSync and even then it can be licensed! |

Hi gardar,
When it comes for SE to move to a different platform, it's completely a different environment... so it cannot be compared.
I love both platform though... Windows Mobile and SymbianOS UIQ.
Regards,
