I have found that if I go into the Bluetooth menu and select Powersave and turn that to ON, even though I very rarely have bluetooth on anyway, and keep the network on GSM only then I get 3 to 4 days battery life on 038. The Powersave mode in the bluetooth menu was set to OFF before.

Oh my God, I did not notice the powersave off Very good,I hope that, in the next firmware, SE will turn the powersave on by default.

it works quite fine with K850i. dont know why its not working at ur side.
not a firmware bug just check whether this handsfree works with another handset or not?

I checked it with a k800i and w800i. Both working but not with my k850i...

returned my k850 yesterday for reparation.

the screen stayed black while the light of the keys were on, and also the cameralight

That's the same problem im having.... the LCD is working fine. just the backlight of the LCD that turns off all of a sudden while the light of the keys were on. Annoying....

Its a common bug with the old firmware, try updating ur firmware and lets hope the problem will be solved, since its a software problem and not hardware!

if it doenst work, bring it back if you have warranty
if not, flash ur phone at a SE service centre near you

this will guarantee to solve ur prob

SE should enhance the security features like adding the option of security keylock (as in nokia..u've to enter the password to unlock the keypad).
also it will be really good if they add the option of FM recording in the coming Firmware... but i think they won't do it.

Probably going to downgrade on da vinci again (and pay for it!).

This wank firmware has ruined my phone, never had reboots before - now twice attempting to write the same text...

Well my K850i has died today! It started on 037 fw which was looking back pretty damn good, then onto the 038 fw which had terrible battery life and a few issues with speed etc but nothing too bad then I made the mistake of changing to the 031 fw. It seemed ok for the 1st few days, the battery life was better than 038 and the media player was faster but that’s where it ended. It started resetting itself for no reason at all, the screen would go blank and the keypad would stay lit up then after about 10seconds it would come back on. Also on one occasion while the phone was sitting doing nothing it decided to change the theme to the standard O2 theme by itself from laser precision (maybe it didn't like my choice??).
This morning the phone had come off charge and was on my desk, it then vibrated once and the screen turned off and the keypad stayed lit and that was the end of it. The only way to turn it off was to remove the battery, I tried putting the fw on it again via seus but this made no difference so I called O2. I spoke to a helpful fella there who as soon as I said the words K850i and fault told me to post it back to them and they would despatch a replacement in 24hrs, he didn't even want to know what’s the problem was as they have had more than a few returned with various faults. Good service from them.......bad service from SE though.

The question is though do I want another K850i or should I see if I could get something else??

(happily back to using my w810i at the moment)

I've now received my replacement phone from O2 and thankfully its come with 038 fw on it and not 031, needless to say I wont be changing fw for any new releases until others have used it for a few weeks and can report on any faults. I like others had NO reboots until I changed to 031 fw and given the choice between 038 (less than amazing battery life) and 031 (reboots and eventually dying) then hand me the battery charger now!!

. . . Thats weird, i'm on an O2 phone (with a t-mobile sim, came unlocked) and over-air and through seus it is up to date, even though i know, when did this update come out for you?

I used SEUS on my PC to upgrade and did it within a day or so of it being released. If you do it over the air you may get a large data bill (depending on your contract!). I think the over the air update my be different to the on-line update- I remember it never worked on my K800. If you've got access to a PC I think that'll be a better option.

I did try using SEUS but got the your firmware is up to date notification, any ideas? BTW choosing a different country at the beginning of SEUS ie USA), will that let you update?

I believe the country selection pertains only to languages. Your current FW CDA# isn't eligible for the upgrade yet. CDA#s determine carriers, location, etc. Don't know why if thats your next question. Either wait or flash with 3rd party software like others that are unable to upgrade due to the same reason. It's very common, some are able to upgrade some are not for whatever reason.
