K850 Firmware Overview |

I was wondering if anyone else's K850 has seemed to changed font size? Opera mini and the gmail application seem to be using the bolded version of the default font constantly.
I used to have a Rogers branded K850, so I used davinci to debrand and SEUS to get to R1EA031. I also changed to the HK customization if that helps. |

Does anyone know if the timer setting on the camera has changed in 031, before I had a coundown sound to pics on self timer but now theres no sound and pics are taken too quickly.
Is there a setting I can change to give longer setting ?? |

Was late for work an Thursday, as my phone crashed overnight and so the alarm turned off.
Never had crashes on the previous firmware, bollocks to it all. |

Mine still has the count noise and it goes for about 10 seconds (on 031) |

personally, with all the reports of reboots, I'd certainly think twice.
I'm not updating any of mine - I'd rather have a slow phone that takes crap pictures than an unreliable phone. |

I'm sticking to my Rogers Branded K850i. I have no media browser issues while minimized and SMS/MMS'ing at all. No reboot issues either. SO I'm all sorted for now.
I await the next Firmware update within the next 2-3mths. |

ok so i just got a new k850 today. Very nice handset in designs. But not sure if it is just my model (though i've heard extensive cases of this)- but practically every picture i have taken is black or almost totally black. What a load of crap! It is dark here, but this is in relatively well lit rooms and they are still coming out black. Anyone give me some advice or direct me in a thread that discusses and fixes this issue cos the camera is useless if every picture i take in evening conditions will be black? And no im not covering up the light sensor and ive tried it in twighlight mode etc. Wehn I have tried it in twighlight mode, all I get is dark pictures still but with a heavy red tint?
Also, I updated the phone, pretty much straight away. Can't tell the changes, but with the update I have lost some of the display settings options like clock size? Is this normal? Also, Is there an option to make clock appear on screen saver- like with my W850? IF not, WHY OH WHY did SE take this out??!
If I cannot sort these problems out, I've had it with SE.
Please help, any advice would be appreciated
EDIT: Im on R1DA038 now (also says 1200-4398 and 071207 if that means anything) and am on an Orange branded handset

Yes you should.. R1CA037 was a good firmware though with great standby time but was a bit slow.
The new firmy R1EA031 is a bit improved and i like the touch vibration and the new animation effect while browsing pictures.
Bugs:
only a few reboots (3 or 4) in 3weeks.
standby time is reduced. |

e_erzan I am happy that you are happy with your camera... As for the rest of us, we can only hope SE will improve the camera driver so we can be as happy as you. By the way, K800 (I had a k790a for a short period of time but I'll call it k800 since more people are familiar with that phone) with standard SE cam driver not even modded, set at 3mp (which is apples to apples by the way as the resolution is almost equivalent) took far sharper, less pixelated pictures in more of a variety of conditions. No one is comparing a digital camera to a phone, I compared the k850 to its predecessor and to the pic Vax took in their "native resolutions", unedited with photoshop or whatever else. Also, what is the point of taking 5mp pics to shrink them to 4x6? Are they scaling up the pixels as a selling point? Like Intel used to do with their processors? It should not be a two-step process to take a 5mp pic so we can reduce it to half its size to have a quality pic. Once again, I don't expect the k850 cam to be on par with even with a bottom end digital camera, I do however expect the K850 to improve from k800 and the k810, not take a step backwards. Four FWs later, its still not on par. I must admit however, it is improving from 37 to 38 and now 31, I just hope SE keeps the trend going.
On another note, I had my second restart today, this time it wasn't actually a restart, it was a shut off. It turned off in my pocket and I didn't even realize until I had to place a call. |

i've had my k850 for over a week now. last sunday i updated my firmware from the 37 that came with it to the new 31 by SEUS. the first few days were ok, but now i'm getting more frequent restarts...
any suggestions on how to make this phone stable? i really love the phone, but the restarts (aka blue ring of death) are bugging me...
and no, i don't have any bucks to spare for a da vinci flash... thanks...
p.s. what does and "unbranded" phone mean? i'm from the philippines so this phone does not come with the big carrier names that others have (orange, vodafone, etc...), so is this unbraned? what difference does it make?

if you want to see if your phone is 100% unlocked(unbranded),
type >#<<#<# (with your joystick) then go to "services info" - "SIM lock" then you should see "FIVE 5"...
net...5
part of net....5
servicessupplier....5
company.....5
increased....5
(which means your phone is 100% unlocked)
