Since flashing with DaVinci to 037 didn't help (as SEUS wouldn't update my CDA 1201-0077 Generic Western Europe phone), I went to Kulakendi, and flashed with 038 and CDA 1202-5694. Now I've been able to upgrade to 031 using SEUS, and still have everything I wanted - Portuguese, English and French (plus Spanish, German, Dutch and Turk).
The only problem I had was that it would reset or power off at longer intervals after updating to 031, but that seems to have been solved with a master reset and a re-flash with SEUS (which now offers the option to re-flash, even though the firmware is up-to-date).
So, a faster phone, and still all the functionality, and all I had to do was to change the CDA from 1201-077 to 1202-5694. Makes one wonder why SE are being such a**es with it.

It's good that KulanKendi has made you happy. Cheaper price than Davinci with the same result.

Bear in mind that if you debrand your voda handset, you'll lose access to VF Live! functions and Mobile TV.

Successfully flashed my Vodafone UK K850i to firmware version R1EA031. I hoped this would sort the camera bug out where by the flash and shutter are out of sync thus resulting in under exposed/dark photos 7 out of 10 times (or there abouts). This doesn't seem to be the case or am I missing something?

How did you manage that?
My vodafone is still shown as having the latest firmware (038) on SEUS?

Or did you debrand it?

De-branded using Davinci to this version:

K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/ BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE

Then connected to the SEUS and got the latest Generic firmware (031).

Main reason I did it was to get rid of the really irritating Vodafone Live touch sensitive button that kept being activated but also hoped it would solve the out of sync flash and shutter issue - anyone got any ideas concerning this as I really think this should be easily addressed via Firmware updates - or is it just my K850i?

Harry, SEUS can't be cracked. It's a client-side application which gets data from a server which cannot be accessed.

Sky is great but... 2-years old LG-KG920 has better camera module overall and less pixelation.

@Vax-vanson;

that photo has clear sky's with sunlight directly overhead!

Take a photo in the shadow with dark surroundings with a subject beyond in sunlight, then we can compare.
