Well, I still have apparently the wrong CDA even after flashing at DaVinci, can't update at SEUS. Can you please post what is your CDA and FS version?
Thank you

I've tried to get my K850i updated, but SEUS won't do anything.

It's Three (UK) branded, and on R1CA029. I see from the first post that I should be able to get R1DA039, but the update service won't update it. I know it's not a problem with the computer as it's updated my W810i successfully.

I'm keen to get the phone updated. I bought it 10 days ago, and have already had the filesystem/operation failed problem on the first phone and had that replaced. It appears that Three won't acknowledge any problems and won't replace the phone again after tomorrow.

I don't want to use the 3rd party flash tools - if I brick the phone I've got an 18 month contract to see out.

Can anyone think of any options open to me, other than reject the phone and contract and try a different phone+provider? As much as I like it, it's not much use to me if it is prone to corrupting itself so that any apps + video calling don't work, the camera doesn't work properly, etc.

Contacting 3 gets the same line - we don't really want to deal with you, please go away. There doesn't seem to be a way to get past the script-reading drones to get a request for an updated firmware.

Contacting Sony just gets standard canned responses that don't answer the questions.

I really feel stuck with a lemon at the moment, which is disappointing. I loved my W810i, and wanted to like the K850. Can anyone suggest anything?

If you don't want to use a third party flash tool (wich would be my recommendation) take it to a SE center and do a DPY-flash there. Otherwise you are prety stuck. Off course you can always try a master reset. I solved my operation falied-issue by. flashing the phone properly at Da Vinci team. So in that case it needed to do a proper install ov the new firmware- a overwriting install if you get me.

I have said repeatedly that this random restarts are not new with this FW and i have also described them here If you read this post you will see it is impossible to miss and appointment or an email or even your alarm to go off because they do not really turn the phone off. so don't panic.

In my case I was having 0.1 restarts/day before updating, 2.5 restarts/day when i just updated because i was pushing the phone to the limit to test the new FW and then it went back to 0.1 restarts/day again. But just to let you know i have re-updated my phone thru SEUS a couple of days ago and have not had a restart since then, according to my stats i should be having one in the next 7-8 days but i think i cannot way, I will push my phone to the limit tonight and see if these restarts are finally gone. i will keep posting.

thank you all for the updates and for keeping the thread alive

Well i was only commenting on the "operation failed part"! That is, when you try to start a game or for instance opera mini and all you get is-"operation failed". And that issue is resolvable through a flashing at Da Vinci team (amongst others) or taking it to a SE-center and do flash there.

I have had 029, 037, and now 031 (Generic Western Euro). I use the phone pretty much the same every day. I do have a LOT more restarts now with 031 (approximately 2-4 a day and before it was maybe 1x day). I am not doing anything different. I still think the positive outweighs the negatives with this firmware, however, even with the restarts - at least that is only 10-15 seconds but the speed of the other functions more than make up for it. I still hope they fix it, though. I don't think those of reporting additional restarts are wrong that it is more frequent.

My phone crashed again last night. Now it won't boot up. When I plug in the power cable keyboard lights up as well as the "blue ring of death" and the red battery indicator light on the power button. I'm attempting to charge it now so that I can reflash the firmware.

Anyway before this I was having a fair number of random reboots with R1EA031 firmware, so if you are experiencing this, you might consider doing a Master Reset and reflash before you end up in my boat.

I'm back up and running! I was never able to reflash the firmware through SEUS, so I went for Da Vinci Team, which succeeed after a couple of tense mid-flash failures. Just make sure that if you're in my situation you plug the phone in for at least an hour to try to get enough of a charge on it to make it through the flashing process. The only firmware available that matched mine (CDA or whatever) was 037 so I did that, then a full master reset, then an upgrade through SEUS to R1EA031. Incidentally, when I used SEUS it said that my phone already had the most recent firmware even though I was on 037. I went ahead and did "Continue Anyway" and it flashed it to 031. I haven't had a crash since I upgraded yesterday afternoon!

One thing that I wonder about ... I'm not positive, but I think my phone originally started crashing a lot more frequently after I switched the phone to push e-mail then back to check every 30 minutes. I wonder if some of my crashes were related to checking for e-mail ... It certainly felt like it was crashing every 30 minutes. Anyway My fingers are crossed that I'll enjoy some crash free time for a while.

I tried this:
play some (Behemoth) music, start Face Wrap app. and some game running in background and taking pictures with flash. Nothing happens, no singel reboot. No even big lags.
But I had a lot of bugs after updating to FW37. Then Service Center reflashed my phone and miracle just happens. After update to FW31 on SEUS, everything runs smooth and I get best battery life ever!

BTW. need advice, how to get my phone going online via comp internet connection (Vista home )
