@anish, I checked it out and many sites say it is in fact a sporting event, some sites say Jousting is considered "The Sport of Kings".

I don't google the answer (what's the fun in that?) - I just googled "joust" because I wasn't sure if it was a sport.

OK here's an old one. This should be easy.
There was a princess at the top of an 11-storey tower. The king gave a test to all able knight in the kingdom if they want to marry the princess. All they have to do is to bring an exact number of apples so that when they reach the 11th floor they should be carrying with them exactly 2 apples which they should give to the princess, no more no less. They are not allowed to eat the apples or leave any behind and every bit counts even halves.
The catch is: In every floor there is a guard who will ask you exactly half of the number of apples you brought. In return however he will give you back just 1 apple. i.e. If you bring 50 apples you have to give 25 apples to the guard in the first floor and he will give you back 1 which gives you 26 apples total. In the 2nd floor you have to give the guard 13 and he will give you back 1 so you will have 14... and so on until you reach the 11th floor.
How many apples should a knight bring to succeed?
