I had to take some pics of a bank property today, and for some reason they wanted a date stamp on the pics.. so I had to borrow my friends Canon SD1200 is to do that.. the 808 doesn't have that option.

So I took the opportunity to compare the two.. I am very pleasantly surprised by the Canon. It is a $250 camera.. with very good reviews

But I expected much worse.

The 808 of course renders such devices absolutely useless (unless you need a date stamp.. lol) and once again.. it shows that Nokia really did something very special here. The lens on the 808 is much wider... and still sharper toward the edges of the frame. Carl Zeiss deserves a standing ovation for that one..

The most amazing part was the flash test I did in the garage.. considering that the Conon has a more powerful flash, the 808 still managed to get more detail and less noise out of the jpeg.. its incredible. Also.. better white balance and color reproduction.

Sometimes i'm a bit disappointed of the colors reproduction of the 808...sometimes a bit washed out . Of course if you watch the pics in real size you'll find better details with the 808. i'm not trying to prove that the gs3 have a better cam but that the 808 is sometimes a bit dull in some landscapes what do you thing ?

Nothing strange about it.. most OEMs saturate their jpegs to cover up the lack of detail and the aggressive noise reduction algorithms. It looks better at first sight, and on a smaller screen..

Since both, the N8 and the 808 have bigger sensor, the jpeg processing can be left more neutral..

On the 808, as I've shown numerous times, its very easy to get vibrant/saturated colors. Custom mode > vivid color > saturation maxed out:

If you know how to use it, the 808 can do whatever your hart desires.. expect bjs of course..

Did couple of DR tests today.. not bad

No surprises, 808 is infinitely superior!

Note: One has a good camera, better than Xperia Z and any other Htc!
