 | We've known this for a while.. Symbian is in zombie mode, it will take another 2-3 years for it to really die. There are a lot of Symbian phones out there still.
And as far the 808.. its a unique device which has no alternative at the moment.

 | Symbian will never die in my eyes. It might not be the present or future but it certainly was a very very good and enjoyed past. I wouldnt want it any other way.

 | I loved using Symbian until S60v5 in the 5800xm and then S3 in the N8, at that point I was done with it.
The peak of Symbian for me was with Nokias legendary lineup of N95, N95 8GB, N82, E71 and E90, excellent hardware, excellent software, and a gigantic community, miss those days I must say.

 | Symbian 10.1 with FP2 is not bad at all.. perfectly usable on a touch screen phone. S60v5 was a disaster they are still paying for today.
Symbian^4 would have been the big jump.. too bad we will never see it. It looked very good conceptually.

It was supposed to bring newer SoC,faster RAM, and 720p screens

and the UX was going to be developed further, which can be seen in their air promo

Symbian has more life in it... the whole project was mismanaged by Nokia, so now its going to just sit on a some random server somewhere... sad.

Next step for me is QNX .. its the closest thing to EKA2 out there. Windows NT is not ready.. it needs bigger batteries and more optimization. Android is a hack job.. can't stand the virtual machine in there..also I don't like google as a company. iOS..stable, pretty.. but boring and limiting at the same time. Not to mention Apple's huge ego which I can't stand.

So ya.. BB10 is looking like the only real alternative to Symbian, but I will be using my 808 for as long as I can before I have to switch to whatever else. It does everything I need from a smartphone.. and more.
