@AYA, does dat mean dat Vmobile started gprs service b4 mtn!!? I'll be darned if dat's so,bcos if not 4 my miraculous stumbling across esato, I wouldn't even know vmobile had gprs!!!.

No doubt about that. Vmobile has had GPRS active since April or May. Its just that it was restricted to certain services. They recently opened it up for WAP browsing. MTN was the last operator to setup GPRS in Nigeria.

@teexl: I have replied your PM. I did ran the check. You may need to take the phone to a repair shop. McDorsey is a good outlet.

Nope. Read my post again. I left allowance for a slip on the part of the vmobile tech guys, and yes there was a slip

I wouldn't be too fast on that... why? The very fact that we have pasted the loophole on this thread is reason to be wary. A vmobile spy might be at this moment reporting this discovery to HQ or Mission Control or.. whatever they call those places in the movies And that may mean any moment from now...

I remember when I discovered the hole in Glo GPRS before it was launched and was so excited I spread the word. The hole was plugged within 2 weeks

@AYA, maybe I and mikkyroy should delete our posts then, I just can't afford to loose this free browsing, the thing is too fast, the speed is like flash.. 100 times faster than MTN was.. I sure dont want the hole blocked.. what do you think?

I've decided to leave it as is, If they like, block it... Afterall,we'll start paying for it someday.. I'll just enjoy it and download all I can for now..

I just found out that it's only the browser that's capable of connecting to the internet, except programs like messenger has proxy settings which would also make them work too..
I can't update my antivirus or chat with messenger yet, there's always a way around it sha...

I finally got Vmobile gprs to work with my pc, I'm making this post with it now. For some reason, it isn't compatible with opera browser, that is why for the past three days I have been unable to open any web pages.
@Egunje: In addition to setting up your vmobile wap profile, you need to activate proxy server on your phone, using the vmobile IP address and port 8080. I think you will find this under the internet or HTTP settings sub menu on your P910.

@Johnbendi: The My Friends feature on your phone allows you to choose how to communicate with your favourite contacts - text message, picture message, email or voice. My Friends is an extract of your phonebook displayed as a graphical list of your favourite contacts.
If your mobile operator provides an Instant Messaging service, My Friends automatically expands into a full-blown Instant Messaging application that allows easy chat with friends or using a chat room.
Alternatively, you could use the yamigo with the My friends feature to create a messaging application on your phone. Get yamigo here:==> www.yamigo.com

Thanks mikky, I've already done that, in fact I have that IP address and port enabled for all four protocols HTTP, FTP, HTTPS and GOPHER, still no show. I'm using Internet Explorer. I do not like mozilla firefox.
However, yahoo messenger now works thanks a lot mate, I wonder what you've been doing on the sidelines all this time.

Could you verify this please.
