W910i Firmware/Bug Overview |

Hello! I'm new here. hehe. Hm, oh, I have a W910i, firmware: R1EA033. I'm happy with my phone but there's one thing that annoys me much;
Whenever I get a call, or make a call, or lose my 3G/HSDPA signal, my headset gets disconnected. (i have HPM-85 and HPM-90). I thought either the headset or the phone is faulty. The headsets work fine with other SE phone models, say my sister's K770i, so nope, its not the headset being faulty. then i thought my phone is faulty. asked for a replacement and somehow i got lucky - i got a brand new replacement of W910i, but the problem is still there. I'm guessing its a firmware issue? any of you having this problem? if so, did u manage to get it fixed?

and lastly, this;

I figured out that the W910 and K850 are having problem with the headsets. only the HPM-70 (the headset that came with my w910) and bluetooth headsets (HBH-DS980) work well on my W910.
so anyone? anyone manage to get it fix?

Wow, thank you very much Rookwise for sharing your thoughts on the HBH-GV435 series. I really want to get this bluetooth headset for my w910i, and thanks for helping with clearing up the differences between the "a" and "non-a" version of the GV435.
thanks again for sharing pal
Have a great weekend man,

You are not alone with it, same with mine HPM90. but it works great when listen music, when speak with it, it can become very annoying..
upgraded to R3EA033 2days ago. I have noticed the battery performance it's much much better than R3EA030, still at 50% left.. |

Hey Silver.
Oh, that is good to know but but, hmm, this sucks. i have to switch my phone to flight mode for it to function well. HAHA. but that isn't fun. do u think that a new firmware will fix that? any way to recommend SE to do that? hehehe. i did email SE from S'pore for support. they told me to update firmware, which i had done way before i got the headset. when i explain more of the issue, they couldn't answer that :\\
I could just use the HPM-70 but HPM-90 sounds so much better than the HPM-70... hmm. :\\ |

Hi afhum,
I returned my first W910 because of this problem but I still had it with the second one so I decided to keep it anyway.
The slider got stuck after a week so I had to return it. The 3rd headset still had the headset problem.
I've tested 3 different W910 with 2 HPM-82 + 1 HPM-90 and 4 different firmwares but the problem is still there. I phoned and mailed SE customer services and they don't even know about it.
I think this will never be fixed because that handset simply sucks. |

Hey Jaax,
Yeah, oh well, what to do, i guess we should just let it be and hope for a firmware that may fix this? they may fix it right, like the latest firmware R1EA033, i think it only fixed the battery's performance. maybe the next firmware will fix this issue.. or not. haha. oh well. i was thinking of replacing my w910 with w890 but then i prefer sliders..
but hey, i have a feeling that a firmware may fix it cos the W910 and K850 are both using the A200(?) platform, and both of them are having the headset problem. other previous phones (not the ones with A200) work fine with the headsets (HPM-85 and HPM-90)... check out the links on my previous post. i think its the one bout the K850 firmware |

Rookwise: I forgot to ask you one question about the HBH-GV435. Is it possible to use w910's walkman to listen to music through the bluetooth headset? I had a chance to play around with my friend's GV435 a few months ago but i couldn't figure out if it is possible ..hmmm |

No mate.Neither the GV-435 or the 435a support A2DP so cannot listen to music through it.

Sorry about the lack of activity on the firmware info page... Been on holiday!
Just wanted to ask a quick question... has anyone had an issue with a W910i where the 'H' is NEVER displayed, even when in a guaranteed HSDPA area; I have been with one of my mates in London and he has a K850i on T-Mobile and I'm on T-Mobile myself; He had it, I didn't... Any ideas?

It seems that R1EA033 and some others have really serious problems with the Java Bluetooth stack.
Headset get connected and loose the connection in the middle of your conversations.
Software version R1CA039 seems to be more stable, as far as the bluetooth connection to the headset is concerned.
It seems that R1CA039 has got J2ME 8.0 and R1EA033 has got J2ME 8.2.
I would not upgraded my set to new firmware releases. |

I've had no issues with R1EA030/33 or even the original firmware which i forget what it was, with my Plantronics 590A stereo headphones, either for listening to music or phone conversations. |
