I have not been kidnapped although I am feeling a little wary of SE lawyers behind my back

@all
Thanks for all the compliments And thanks to some of that promotion, this thread is fast approaching 46,000 views! Not very far away from 50,000 views.

Wow, I take one day off of the forum and all hell breaks loose, so to speak, at least regarding the amount of new info and mixed up information
There's quite a bit of new info.

Here are a few things to clear up for y'all:

  • The K770 was never called a Cyber-shot. It was called 'the normal version', so it is a generic phone, not a Cyber-shot. SE is not stupid and they are not going to label a non-autofocus camera a Cybershot.
    And the K650 and W650 will have the 2 megapixel auto-focus cameras, but only the K650 will be branded Cyber-shot.
  • The 'K770' is not the only one that will come in silver. The Ai (W880) will also come in silver along with the black colour.
  • The Ai took the spy shots of the phones. Therefore the Ai will be called the W880. The W770 does not exist, full stop.
  • The Ai's screen resolution is hard to predict, because a lot of people are saying different things. I know that MR is a trusted source, and he has used the phones, but he also has gotten some facts wrong. I also have a source who says that the Ai will definitely have a QVGA screen. We'll just have to wait.

And of course the mandatory UPDATE:

  • The DVB-H phone will be showcased at 3GSM in February.
  • I still believe that K770 will not be the final index for the generic Ai. I think K620 sounds more logical in SE's range of phones.
  • Some info on Sony Ericsson's involvement in the DLNA.

Thanks goldenface for some of that

If the speculations are true, then it seems like the development is slowing down somewhat. What giant leaps heve we seen since the k700 or k750/w800? 3G, sure and 'better' camera's, but that's about it.

'Spypics' always are that bad in quality, the phones never look any good. Once seen in reality they always look much better.

I think 5MP is not such a bad leap! It might be a while before anything bigger than 5MP appears on a mass-market handset.

@bobafett

I totally agree! I've taken loads of pictures with my 2.0mp W900i and they were easily good enough for 7 x 5 prints, I was really impressed.

I really think the focus should shift to improving the video recording. That seems to be the 'Achilles Heel' of the handsets atm. that and optical zoom.
