the S65 is a piece of crap and I would never compare it to an equivalent SE phone.

The two above statements seem to be mutually exclusive, you seem to be asking for two seperate things. You complain that there has been no real innovation in mobile phones over the last few years; you also complain about mobiles not being phones anymore. There is only so far a mobile phone can be developed as a phone, what else can one add beyond the T68i that would keep a mobile a phone and allow innovation?

The mobile 'phone' is very much dead, it has moved beyond being merely a phone and has changed into something else, something more. Mobiles are becoming more and more like personal entertainment centres and in the near future I can see them taking on the role of payment method as well.

There's no detail on how far their agreement goes so let's not get over our heads here with speculations. I don't see anything negative about this alliance, as a consumer I only expect to see major improvements in the mobile phone market in the near future as a result of this alliance.
resistance is futile.

Whether or not the T68i cam was an attachement or not, it was a cam!! and looking at the pics on this forum id say its fair to say it takes better pics than the K700/T610 etc!

i can too see the way mobiles are going and as long as i stay in my current profession, ill have to keep selling them to the public and lying my teetch off when i say that the K700i is soo much better than the T610, at least for Nokia users its a bit different! 6310i to a 6230 is a big leap! thats the leap i want to see ever year if a mobile phone is going to develop. i feel that all the manufacturers fall into this bracket, they spend millions and millions on making sure their phone can take a picture while your eating your corn flakes upside down in the middle of the amazionan rainforest. but theyve let the reception/call quality slip very very slowly, go buy youself a 6310i and a K700 and honestly tell me which one has better signal strenght and call quality!! the only manufacturer i can exclude from the above is Vertu as they havent really changed their design in the last 3 years! good on them, a mobile phone thats calls people with the highest quality! now theres a novel idea for a mobile telephone!

Vertu! What a good example, a mobile that costs several thousand pounds and is in essence a Nokia in disguise. Vertu is basicaly mutton dressed as lamb.

The T68i camera really was not all that good, my T630/K700/S700 all take far superior pictures.

What exactly should mobile phones be? By your definition we should all ideally be using StarTacs from ten years ago, they would fit your criteria very nicely indeed. If you don't like current mobiles, why not just buy an older model? There really isn't any more to innovate as far as phone technology is concerned, one makes a phonecall and speaks to someone at the other end. That seems to have been perfected.

indeed they do cost thousands of pounds but is that the price you have to pay??

All i want is a phone that will make and receive phone calls with the audio clarity of my 4 year old 6150. the ability to store lots of phone number and test messages is a bonus, but in essence, all im after is an up to date 6150, hence the reason im using a 6310i!

ill carry on with my own little arguement with myself here!!

off you pop and enjoy your 1.3mp camera, 1 day stand by phone and 32mb mp3 payer. oh sorry i mean your S700i.

An updated 6150? You were complaining that you just wanted a mobile that made phonecalls, what updates do you want to see?

Thank you very much, I will enjoy my stylish mobile, which has extra features that give me more communication and entertainment options, I mean my S700!

OMG..

Isn't this post getting blown out of proportion?

The press release simply talks about a partnership whereby the patented and protected technologies of each company may be used by the other.

Deals like this happen all the time. You dont see SunIBM do ya?

Indeed, a spot of late night discussion can be rather fun. Mind you, I suppose we are going off-topic.

The deal only involve on Sony and Samsung product like LCD etc.
not mobile phone.

If SEMC have to merge with samsung, it will just show tht sony is giving up more to Samsung.

I don't think Sony management like to see tht.

I've always found samsung's physical designs great. I just dislike their interface and the way it seemed to lack some of the better things in SE. If SE can get Samsung designs in their phones, I'm pretty sure they're going to be a runaway hit.
