ok im back, hello everybody,

this phone is amazing, iv put 3 mp3's so far on it, and it plays amazing, it doesnt cackle, althought i wouldnt recomend playing it full volume on the phone, use bluetooth headset or even better earphones that come with the phone.

remember, the hardware is no where near as powerful as ur sub woofer speakers at home with 5.1 surround, but it works, and as far as im concerned, the quality is amazing,

the interface is very customisable, iv turned it to look like a t610 and a bit like windows, (the folder icons with text)

this is one of nokias best phones yet, and it accepts pictures via infrared, mp3's etc,

the battery was charged last night, iv made a few calls and played videos and mp3's, battery is still at full since last night after being charged for a full 8 hours after being drained,

the phone is small, tiny, doesnt bulge out in my pocket like t610 or (if i had got the k700i).

I dont really see the point in having mmc card in mobile phones!
The k700 has 40mb which is more than enough mem for a phone, with 40mb i can store loads of games, ringtones and video.

Ok you may what loads of mp3's but why not get an mp3 player it makes more sense. There's no way i would use my phone as my main mp3 player (i use my iriver for that) no matter what phone you've got playing mp3's for age's is gonna kill the batt!

I did like the 6230 and almost got it till i had in in my hand, the screen is so small.

I can thank the guy in cpw for changing my mind and getting me my k700 (for once the cpw staff new there stuff).

I always had planned on getting the k700 for my next phone but went out to get a new phone (n6230) not knowing the cpw had the k700 in stock, when the guy in the shop said the k700 IS BETTER then the 6230 i said i thought so but its not on display... Sorry he said it should be i'll go round the back to get you one.... I've never looked back

how can you see what you have not seen ?

i have tried BOTH k700i and 6230, and i was a big fan of SE, until they screwed up in k700i.

the memory feature is good, very handy for pictures and video, the fact it has mp3 is good, but i have more memory, thats what people want,

i have now got a 128mb and 30mb mmc cards. they r cool 2 carry around in their little plastic cases,

my battery is still showing full after messin about with it today,

the guys in carphone warehouse are connected with SE, somehjow, obviously they are going to support SE.

fromy my experience, i PREFER 6230, why ?
huge memory for my videos and pictures, the ability to create folders, which SE lacks, it has memory chips,

you cant decide k700i is better if u have never tried 6230

both fones are good, im telling u that now

but i prefer 6230, i still like SE

hey abba... i'm over here in the states and i'm planning on getting either this phone or the 6620... i have a couple of questions about your 6230....
i know 256mb is the max for this phone... have you tried SD or did you stick with MMC?
what is the bitrate of your mp3's your putting on there?
what all came in the box with the phone?
i have heard some complaints about the number pad.. how does it feel to you?
what video types work with this...(3gp, rm, mpg)?
how is the speakerphone quality?

THANKS!!!!.... ignore those a-holes, some kids don't keep an open mind

Well i have mmc cards for use with my pda and although they are very small they are very easy to misplace, also dont you have to take off the battery to put a mmc in the 6230 which seems like a right pain if you do!

Also about creating folders, what do you mean buy that? As you CAN create folders for pic's, video's and mp3 with the k700.
And why would you say "they screwed up in k700i" whats so screwed up about it? If its only cos it does'nt have mmc well that hardly justify's it as screwed up!
MMC is the worst kind of card, so there... (sorry)

the video files it supports are 3gp, i havent tested avi or mpeg out "yet" but converting avi and mpeg to 3gp is easyily done using the nokia data suite tool converter

my bit rates vary from 92 - 192, some higher than 200 kbps, they work,

it has a built in equalizer too, pop, jazz, classical, and there was somee other options,

it also supports m3a and amr and mp3's

the keypad is fine, there IS NOTHING WRONG with the keypad

any dumbass who hasent noticed, 6230 u can change the covers, so if the cover u got has a f**kd keypad jus GET A NEW COVER DUH

there is nothin rong with my keypad, it works fine,

il be happy to answer any more questions u have or any doubts

p.s. i havent tried SD yet, im using mmc, it works for me, i currently have 128, idont know about the 256 mb limitation, however the mmc cards come in small cases, meanin u can swap them, mine 128mb cost me only £16 which is pretty cheap,

@joebmc - Many of us, including yourself I suppose, wants everything on their fone - right That's why having The MP3 is one of the best features latest fone models have out in the market Now, as you have lamented back there, why not just get an MP3 Player separate from the fone that you have Who would like to carry so many things around their belts/bags to accomodate all their gadgets It will just be an encumbrance - mate That's why developers would like to install all pertinent things on the fones so as it will best result to a 'all-in-one' and not 'hole-in-one' - thing NEC will be releasing the very 1st mobile fone that has a tv on it come 2005 Now, that's really what everyone should be 'watching' out for

Thankyou very much.

The nokia 6230 SUPPORTS UP TO 1 GB

but before you go out buying the memory chips, make sure you have a card reader, the card reader is the best way to format the card without errors, after its formatted,u can use it how you want, it supports 512mb and 1GB, but there is a compatibility list, as some mmc's don't work,

mobymemory.com works for me, the specialise in 6230 mmc chips,

my softgware is pretty new, 03.17, my phone is working fine, it works, its a good fone, and ihave not been having problems

make sure u get the fone with the latest software on it, as i asked mines to be updated,

@* after reading the whole (4 pages) thread, i think i'll go for the B6230. hep hep!! hold your horses! its not for me. if for my wife.

she's currently using a 3650 (she used to settle for my T39 and T68m)

i think the memory card will be the best thing. more videos, more pics.

alrigh. i admire the K700i looks, but in the long run, functionality will be the most important.

i do hate nokia, specially bout thier MMC (i have to shutdown the phone place/remove the mmc) unlike my orange SPV/Tanager.

again, i find my SD card faster than MMC. though MMC is cheaper here in manila. well, i can lend my 256sdcard for my wife to use her 6230 to to enjoy MP music

but first, i have to sell the 3650

@abba- can you pm me the link on how to conver video files from 6230 to mpeg-avi (for my tanager) thanks
