Last night I was able to watch the movie "Italian Job" in it's entirety, and man, I guess I can consider it as one of the best action-packed flick of last year-2003, the best so far, in it they revived the mini-cooper car - good looking. They also featured luxury cars like - Ferrari, Bimmer 8 series/new, Aston Martin and Cadillacs. Also, the movie Bourne Identity (book novel) was a good one as well

the original italian job was better. the new one was still a good movie but the ending was weak.

I have a few fav. movies.. Lock, stock & two smoking barrels. The bourne ID. Predator is still a great movie- not because of arnie but because the predator is so god damn cool. Can't wait 'till the next movie. Looking 4ward to A vs. P: the movie

@gelfen - you mean the Italian Job movie that I just watched is somewhat a remake - Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron? Then who starred in the original one? How about the movie 'Seabiscuit' - flick about horse racing. Rumors have it that it will be nominated in the best picture category in this year's Oscar's, also, they say that it was entirely sponsored by 'Oreo' .

Mr. John McTiernan directed some of action classics like "Predator" and "Die Hard",

Reny Harlin too has some aces up his sleeve like "Cliff Hanger" and "Die Harder"

Even, Michael Mann has shot the cuirously cast ensemble "Heat" which is the urbane action classic of cat n mouse game of police v/s hitmen.

But, i guess my favourite is Ridley Scott for all of his masterpieces starting from Blade runner to Gladiator to Black Hawk Down.

and the very best is "Witness" starring Harrison Ford.
.

cheers

@jadeparfait - yes, the Die Hard trilogy is surely one of Willis' best, to date, very realistic too compared to that of Sly's Rambo series . . . I also like the movie Gladiator, just reminds us of our history as well. If I just remember it right, it was also nominated in the Oscar's (best picture category) a couple of years back . . .
For the oldies like @masseur (kidding here mate), the classic movies Gone With the Wind and Casablanca are still the flicks to beat !

Yes jojo .

By the way Glariator did win the best actor and picture award at OSCARS but narrowly missed the "best director" trophy to another movie which is the most complex action piece of puzzle i have seen in years.. TRAFFIC.. .
so many lives and so many subplots and drugs galore. whatta movie it was .. smart action at its best.

@jadeparfait - was that the movie Traffic, that beat Gladiator? or was it Training Day - Denzel Washington? About Russell Crowe, he also made another good movie, nominated at Oscar's as well - the movie, A Beautiful Mind, where he was a mathematician by profession . . .

@jojo: the original Italian Job was a British movie which starred Michael Caine.

galdiator was "best picture" and rusty crowe "best actor" when it was nominated for the oscars. denzel beat in training day robbed him the following year when crowe was in a beautiful mind, simply because it was the oscars which followed 9/11. the academy dreamed up the most "american" thing they could do, which was to give nearly every award to an american while still maintaining at least a veneer of "validity".

consequently a beautiful mind won absolutely everything (best picture/director/supporting actress, etc.), but the guy who was in every scene and carried the whole movie got dudded. the whole thing just got far too political. you'll notice that every other form of movie awards around the world gave russel crowe their "best actor" equivalent that year.

yup.. russel crowe doesnt get when he deserves the best. thats the usual oscars mantra. they follow some strange and absurd theories to handout awards. who cares. i think golden globe is the most authentic as it involves only the hollywood press

i have seen training day which was not even worth considering for the nominations.. huh..

PS: russel crowe was towering in "The Insider" and "A beautiful mind" !! Its been long after someone popping up in ozzi land who can compete and even outshine with Mel Gibson .
What do u say @ gelfen ?

it has been a while since we've had a genuine male acting "star". Rusty certainly is a damn fine actor, but now he's married and has a child he's said that he will take life easier now. i suppose he can afford it!

the only other real contender would be Hugh Jackman, but he hasn't quite got enough films out there yet. we'll have to wait and see until after Van Helsing is released.

interestingly, Mel Gibson isn't actually an aussie. he was born in the US, and lived in Australia for most of his childhood and early adulthood, but for someone who "still calls Australia home" he has never had Australian citizenship.

oh yeah.. @gelfen.. i had almost forgotten hugh jackman .. his claws clouded me for a while..

but he is terrific too.. i liked him in he urbane drama with ashley judd and "kate and leopold" with meg ryan..

btw. i really envy the ozzzi woman of the moment.. ms. naomi watts. she is having a ball of time starting with mulholland drive and continuing her charms in 21 grams.. ( i wish she had been paired with del toro but eventually with the old penn.. ).
dont u think she looks similar to her buddy friend ms kidman but a lil closer look will tell she looks more charming of the 2
