Here's my 2 cents,

My personal (very probably biased) opinion about Nokia's is that they're not wel built (exchangeable covers aaarrrghh) have an awfull menu system (hey and I came from a A1018s, and still hated the nokia menu system). Yet this is all very subjective.

An objective fact, which is valid in my country at least, is that Nokia is unable to bring out phones with a good price/quality balance. Compare a Nokia and a SE phone from the same price range and you will notice that Nokia cannot offer the same amount of features for that price.

One argument could be that the customers just want a simple phone to call, send text messages, play games, et cetera. Fair enough, but then why for such a high price? If Se can make a feature-laden phone for the price of a simple Nokia, Nokia must be working with huge profit margins keeping the price high.
If people want a simple phone, they should be able to buy such a phone but not for a price that's kept high artificially. Nokia seriously needs to begin pricing their phones in reference to their value.

If I shop around for a new phone I want the best bang for the buck , and that's always lead me to (S)E, and still does.

Hey ppl,

I haven't been posting for almost a year, but let me tell you something, you can compare phones, but you can't compare choices, what I mean, is sometimes you are used to a phone brand, because of its system, way it looks, etc..., and all the rest will look like crap.

I started with a Motorola, I've never been afan of it, changed to nokia, and loved it at the time, even had the 6150, which at the time was the best business phone.

I am a business user, once I saw the functionalities of the T39m, I was going to buy, but 1 week later I saw the T68 I bought it and I loved it, that was when I started to hate Nokia, but when the T68 came out, there was no better phone at the time, but now there many phones for many choices, I have to tell till today the best phone I ever had was the 9210, altough there were many but many features missing, even prefered that to the P800, but like anything it is a choice of what you like and what you need.

I went to the T68 because it looked nice, it had a colour screen, and had what i needed e-mail, bluetooth, ir and gprs.

Well compare this to the 6310i, well 6310i does not have a colour screen and is as good or better than T68i.

So you can't really say the phone is crap, cause it might be for you but for someone it might be a great phone, cause thats what they were looking for.

The best phone for me would be a 9210i communicator with dual colour screen, bluetooth, IR, HSCSD, MMS, GPRS, a built-in cam, built-in GPS, with the same look, but a tiny bit thiner, with the inner screen touch screen, Java, plyphonic ringtones, Java, e-mail, html, xtml...

But this what I would like to have, and it doens't need to be Nokia, as long as it fits my needs.

Nokia will announce it in spring 2004 (the next Communicator).

Which Nokia model do you mean by awful menu system? Series 40 has grid view menus etc these days, Series 60 has had it since it was born. As does Series 90. SO YOU CAN'T SAY NOKIAS HAVE AN AWFUL MENU SYSTEM, SOME OLDER NOKIAS DO IF YOU PREFER TO HAVE SOMETHING ELSE.

That doesn't apply at all to Series 60 phones, which have a major significance in Nokia's model family. They are priced about between SE T610 and P900. They are also more advanced than the T610 but less advanced than the P900. I understand that argument if you mean 4-tone polys for a high price in the early/basic Series 40 phones. But even those phones have had Java, MMS, IR, speakerphone and in many cases FM radio since the beginning (and sometimes extra features like extra durable covers, fold out keyboard, integrated camera + video recording etc). You only see the bad features and miss everything else. The T610 for example has good polys but no speakerphone, FM radio or video recording. Plus a small memory.

Oh and, leaving out BT on some models allows to make phones for different user groups unlike SE (tech geek/heavy user phones only, if you need only the T310's features but don't want its entry level looks, SE has not much to offer. And these users are many.).
