I just bought a used 1-month old unit off my friend. Checked and saw that it has 01w38 at the back. I'm not sure how the previous owner treated the battery but at full charge I see about 200-225hrs stby mode, while the talk time fluctuates like nobody's business. However, it usually lasts about 3-4 days, and I always switch the phone off at nite.
I actually have a colleague whose husband works in the factory that manufactures Ericsson phones here in Malaysia. Will get her to ask her husband if it is really true that the production of the T39 is discontinued. |

Has anyone had their standby time problem fixed in the UK?
If so which service centre?
I've phoned around and NOBODY is aware of the problem!

I also tried phoning Orange, Ericsson, and the Sony servie center in Slough and they all say that they have never heard of the problem or the standby time fix.
What software version do you have at the moment?
I am wondering if it is worth trying R4A008 ( I have R3B006) just incase that does fix it? |

Well, I just upgraded to R4A008 but I couldn't tell any difference at all besides that the secret snake game is activated using 789 instead of 3#2!
Can someone pls explain what is the improvement in this new version? |

Right, my first post... I've been having the same problems with this phone, on Orange too.
I've had one replacement battery - and they want to send me a new one. I've also spoken to Ericsson's support line direct, and they've denied that they've heard of the problem. Their shooting themselves in the foot tbh, cos I'll go back to a 6210 if they're not careful.
I've now got the local service centre number (Wimbledon), and I'll go there on Monday. Anyone got any firm things I can tell them about what to do, and which thing to get off EMMA? I'll let you all know if they're OK with it, and whether I see some improvement.
Has anyone in the UK managed to get this fixed?

I've been away and the response has been disappointing but the results so far are:
6 faulty phones 1 wk8 2wk9 2 wk10 - 1 unknown.
0 OK
As an update for my phone I am about to receive a new phone that is supposed to be free of the fault. Watch this space.
There are at least some people on Orange Customer Service that are now aware of the problem - I eventually spoke to someone called Stephen. He told me that they had just become aware of the problem and had ordered some current stock to be fixed and new stock had been ordered. The first of these has now come in.

I have just e-mailed Orange to try and get an idea of how long it will take to get a *working* T39.
Will let you know the upshot.
(Let's just hope the s/w in the new ones isn't worse :| )

I just got like 245hrs after full charge this morning, but don't count on it. It won't last nearly that long, especially after some moderate usage. Nevertheless, it's still one of the phones with the longest battery life that I've ever used before! 5 days!!! Can't beat that! But still can't compare with mobile phones in Japan (like Panasonic, Sanyo, NEC etc...), 'coz they last like 2 weeks on a full charge..... coloured screen. Unbelievable... |

OK guys, got my replacement T39 through this morning, a 02W13 phone...and the standby issue seems to have been sorted! Don't know what s/w model it is or anything, but on my current battery that reports 36hrs standby on the old phone, this new one reports 136hrs! So after a full charge it should be 200+ hrs...sweet. |
