I'm also successful with testing the umsg application on my t610.
I used it for 10min (~5 big messages, ~22Kb data transferred) and never crashed. (1 of my contact got disconnected during the session and the soft didn't crash.)
But I'm still looking for a way to use my low-cost pc internet connection to access the internet with the t610. Anyone successfull with this ? would be great to chat for (almost) free

@wrath000:
Yep, I noticed this while playing around with my T68i. And some interesting labels like "Equalizer" and some Hz settings, which I thought would be related to MP3 player or something but who knows.
We'll see..

On october 15, Microsoft is planning to upgrade its .Net Messenger servers, which will result in all old versions of MSN Messenger, as well as Trillian and other Odigo, to be unusable. I am not 100% sure, but it is likely that similar apps for mobiles will be inoperant as well.
Just to let you guys know.... |

Any news on possibilities to log on msn/hotmail via your T610? Is there a new version of msn out?

I've got a email from justyak today and they told me that t610 is support now. I can't test it because you need the latest firmware on the phone and i've got still R1A. Maybe somebody with R3C wil test it

No luck.
Just tried to login, but it still gives me the same error-message. And I've got R3C002...
Anyone else who has had better luck? |

cMessenger works just fine when you've set it up. Just make sure any other JAVA-app that uses Internet WAP settings work first (many have problem getting this working because of APN n stuff) |

Just a few messaging notes:
First, from my observations, MSN isn't actually refusing connections. It sends a connection error to anything that uses an old protocol, even MSN Messenger if it's old enough. If the app ignores the error message, it can still connect but most (not all) don't ignore it, get the error, figure there's a problem and disconnects. Personally, I can't exactly blame MSN for that...I don't like supporting antique software, either.
In other news, I was able to get ahold of JustYak's java app and give it a try on the T610 and it works great. Much faster and easier to use than cMessenger. True, it's a subscription service, but at the price they're asking, I'll gladly pay rather than suffer with cMessenger any longer. My T610 is using the "original" T-Mobile firmware (R1H I think) and it works just fine. One catch, however....you definately cannot use the 9.99/month WAP connection to connect to JustYak. I had to call T-Mobile this morning and order the 19.99/month internet connection in order to connect. |
