i dont think that is a big concern personally.
i know the SAR is getting serious, but i supposed if you wanna be careful, u can wear glove, use a clean cloth, dip a small amount of bleach on the cloth and swipe the box when you brought it, and gently swipe the outside of the phone, headset and battery
of course im not asking u to use a very very wet cloth, just a reasonable amount should be alright ... |

I just chatted with Eldar about the memory allocation problem ! As you guys know, Eldar still has his pre-production T610 and he has very good contact with SE. I asked him whether the photos taken with T610 would taken as much as 50k on the phone memory. He said this problem was in first version of software only, now they check it... as far as he know its been fixed with the new software.
I also asked him about for those backgrounds
for example on my T68i, if I transfer a background of actual size 4k, on the phone it would taken as much as 13k memory. is it the same with T610 or they fix it already ? He said SE know this and are promised to correct this, but he don't saw the latest version of software..so not confirm yet !
There's a great hope that SE would fix it !!!

@caff: Sounds like great news!
@michelle318: I wasn't worried about getting the SARS virus from my phone, i was just wondering IF it was possible.

but if SE knows these kinds of problemes, and they allready are working on solutions - why do they make a roadshow and put there a not jet finished product - that sounds abit like nonesense for me, i hope that they know what they do! |

@jack00: I think the answer to that question would be; just not enough time...
One disturbing "feature" of the T610 seems to be that the phone doesn't handle detection of pressed keys in a good way. For example Mophun games can't detect various combinations of simultaneous pressed keys. Seems to be even worse than the T300/T310!
See:

This document is based on a pre-release hardware/firmware (2003-04-11) as it says in the document. So let's hope they sort this out in the final firmware release before launch. |

Rumour from other newsgroup said that it will be selling at HK$3680... however I guessed it will only be $3280
djk: To supplement a little bit to your review: The software version for the T610 I tried in road show is R1A. MAY be the memory allocation problem could be fixed in the released version. Further, the vibration alert impressed me a lot! I have used T28, T39 and T68i, those vibrators are quite week and I often missed call when I am on the street. However T610's is very stong, comparable to most of the Nokia phones.

@caff and airegg,
hi, i also think the firmware of the phones in the roadshow is not the final one, as i found some mistakes in the phone. for example, the title "Pictures & Sounds" is mistakenly shown as "Multimedia messages".......... but in my opinion, the phones in the show are NOT the first firmware version.....................so........ i think the memory allocation problem still cannot be fixed in the commercial units except there is some delay for the launch
@ed,
hi, i'm sorry that i hadn't tried it at the roadshow... |

I just spoke with someone who is also testing the T610 - he told me that picture with a resolution of 352 x 288[Pixel] needs 20KB but it is true that you can't delete some of the stuff which is already on the phone |

Is camera naviagtion and response good? Comparable to the nokia 3650 and p800? I've just picked up a nokia 3650 and the camera is amazing compared to the mca 25. I hope the t610's performance is as good...anybody know? I odn't think this has been asked |

Yes the camera response is very good. When I tried it I had no problem at all tracking people with the camera. There is a video of the T610 with the camera in use somewhere on this forum. Look at that one and you will see that it's very good.

the only thing that I liked about my Motorola was automatic cleanup of SMS boxes so that messages were deleted regularly and didn't build up. Does T610 have a SMS management system |
