Not to put too fine a point on it, I think this is probably the beginning of the end for Symbian. Certainly S60 is now dead as a doornail, and Symbian^2 (if and when that sees the light of day) will have to work hard to distance itself from it.

Agreed. But i see a different cause to that. Satio might have been a kind of salvation to it, or at least an attempt of keeping it pretty much alive. The idea of having a magnificent camera along with serious smartphone capabilities will sound tempting anytime, anywhere. But I guess that even if it had succeeded as a mature device, Android seems to grow and to mature in a pretty fast way (just take a look @ the new Google Maps Navigation - it's a cracking feature that will kill even standalone GPS units). I guess that those keeping away from it will face an extremely hard bitten competition. Google will inevitably rule the mobile world in a near future. I guess that this may have sealed Symbian's future more than Satio's own fate. The problem is that SE will never care that much about customers that have bought its nearly dead Symbian flagship. They will now take on with the new Xperia X10 and just leave them behind.

I have no problem on my satio,
the only problem I can see is that I can manage more than 3000 media files.

Agree with the Symbian death comments. Looking at it the Satio seems to be a 'lets use everything we already have' model for SE. No 3.5mm Jack, Symbian, old touch screen technology.

Have to disagree with the screen.... the screen is very good and has a big advantage over amoled screens and that is sunlight visibility ... about 3,5mm .... i not see it as a big problem... there are 3,5mm adaptors everywhere. |

Miguel, I guess that the problem lies on the fast port connector itself, the one that goes attached first to the phone. Have you tried to walk all day long with it inside your pocket? I remember doing that with my old K800 and it just kept on getting detached from the phone all the time. Also it's rigidity seems to decrease with time, what makes this issue even worse with a few months of dayly use. A 3.5mm socket, besides the fact of being a standard for a long time, seems to be much more steady than this awkward fast port.

Yes i tried many times cause i only use the phone in my pocket, but i think the problem its not the fastport itself but the place they put it. I dont know why they insist to put it on the side of the phone. I didnt had any problems with w800 fast port cause it was on the bottom, but i did have with n95 8gb with its 3,5mm on the side of the phone. Nokia learn their lesson and now place it on the top of the phone but it seems SE persists doing things wrong and its not only for music output... for exemple for charging the phone in your car with the phone placed in a cradle is much more convinient if the connector is at the bottom of the phone... I cant see any advantage of connectors on the side of the phones and the guy that had that ideia in first place is a complete idiot. |

I had a N95 as well. The thing is that with a 3.5 you'll never have the problem of it getting detached from the phone, even if it's placed in its side. I remeber that the N95 connector was not straight, but instead it had an elbow so that the cord could depart from the connector parallelly to the phone, not transversely. It was a pretty compact design. Anyway, I agree that putting it at the top is the best place to go. I had one N82 after this N95 and it was just perfect to carry inside your pocket. Talking about it, I guess it was a really decent phone. The only problem about that is that its pics are too much compressed by the processing algorithm. Otherwise it's fantastic.

I never put phone inside pocket, I'm walking with it on my neck and never had any problems with fastport. One thing is nervous for me that when I connect it to cpu it sometimes connects not properly. I have noticed that satio sometimes disconnects it self and connects again automaticly. But this might be FW bug.

Vit Obrigado! Um abraço aqui de Portugal! If your running both 3,5mm/ fast port, detached from the phone trust me I only use my shure earphones and unfortunally the conector is straight so i had that problem with n95. On the contrary n85 is perfect and its the phone that i use most to ear music. |

well i wasnt disappointed. i KNEW that this will happen (not that it will be recalled, but that it will have alot of BIG bugs). SE is extremely stupid! My g900 (and all G900) suffer from overexposure when taking pictures with macro mode.. come on!! ME and others sent tons of mails to them.. and still no fix since 1 year and a couple of months. I am so angry because of this. First the G900 was shitty, then it was fixed with the FW, but they didnt touch the camera driver at all.. And the colors and exposure SUCK! they cant make a decent firmware!! Am i a SE basher? all my phones (7) where SE phones, i dont like nokia, apple, sammy etc. And look what i get.. Now my dad has a satio, no big problems yet whatsoever. But it will be donated to me in 3-4 months, and i will be angry as hell again.. The point is they where folling around months with this phone. Was released late because of unfinished fw. So aside the fact that it was released very late, it has buggy firmware too :/ (it's new, i know, but FFS THIS is all that they can throw at us??) no EQ, media limited to 2000 or 3000 files, bad radio with no RDS, ugly menu, ... Surprised the camera is working well (remember k850i xenon DEsync?).. I really, really, REALLY hope that it will be fixed and not pushed aside like the G900.. (and im not talking about 2-3 fw updates, but min. 10 or untill it is perfectly sharpened).
