He complains about Se when really is latest is the K850 which is the worst way to judge SE and such so yeah. That last bit is about me saying how while i might have started out with motorola loving it i know hate it and am with SE. Samething with video games for me,

-Because of the simple UI and beautiful designs.

-The Cyber Shot phones and the "like digitial camera style"

-Play/pause button

-Brighter screen

-Better price, at least here in my country a good Nokia is too expensive
ex. You can buy a K850i for US$180 or less and the N82 is up to $US 300

-Xenon flash and torch light

Those are my main reasons though I m using an iPhone 3G now

Why is it the worst way to judge SE - because it's a bad phone? SE are a phone company, aren't they? The K850 was one of their biggest product launches in its year, no? The point is, whether you like it or not, many people bought the K850 and discovered it was a bad product, and that will be colouring many people's opinions of SE. That's how this works.

For a long time I loved SE partly because of the memory of a few good phones, when in reality the phones I had from them in later years were quite poor. Those early impressions work both ways.

That last bit is about me saying how while i might have started out with motorola loving it i know hate it and am with SE. Samething with video games for me,

Still don't understand the video game bit, sorry. You seem to be saying that people's opinons/tastes can change, and well, yep. But again, it works both ways.

Wish I could take SE build quality and Nokia guts and mesh them together. I love S60 and Nokia's menus/layout, but I detest the build quality of most of their phones (N85 is a good example. One word - garbage). SE for the US market lacks 3G choices (yes there's a few) where Nokia has "quite" a few. Let alone it'd be nice to see GPS & wifi standard on all SE phones.

That said I'm about to pick up a T700. Yes it lack the bells and whistles, but again I want that stellar SE build quality.

what is this "steller build quality" that you speak of?

SE is well known to have poor build quality, but you haven't woken up to that fact yet.

So nice to see how people build up their points by providing citations and proof to give their arguments some depth.... not.

I like Sony Ericsson because it is Sony Ericsson. No other phones are better than SE to me.

Also I find Nokia phones ugly, or at least not compatible with my tastes.

i would choose the nokia over an SE.
-neither are known for their reliability, but nokia suffers less in this department.
-nokia designs are far more variable
-nokia software is more stable than the ever-wobbly a100 and a200
-SE charges too much for too little, whereas nokias are priced more fairly
-nokia has a better sense of standards than SE, the latter continually stubbornly refusing to adhere to standards
-build quality of nokias tends to be somewhat higher
-nokias have better audio quality
-nokias definitely have significantly better reception and call quality

are you referring to my posts!? perhaps you need to rectify your gnat-like memory. you've obviously forgotten about:
-the infamous joysticks
-the crazy cracking keypads due to green paint on the s500(both models) w595and (oops, this was SEs silly unbelievable excuse)
-the fast port connector forever going belly up
-the sheer regularity and consistency of hardware(and software) problems reported by users on forums and to retailers
-articles such as thishttp://www.whatmobile.net[....]lity_called_into_question.html

does that point to steller built quality, or the reverse?

Ouch! Cranky a tad, huh? Compared to Nokia, SE phones have much better build quality IMO.

Why SE over Nokia?

Because Nokia styling is bland, their Amour phones are odd, there premium phones (8800, Vertu) are underfeatured, their UI is awkward, their txt entry style is awkward, their styling is bland, their font is way too small, I don't like the standby screen notifications, their smartphones are irrelevant (as proved by the iPhone) and their styling is bland.

Did I mention their styling is Bland?

I liked the N95 1GB but it's price was too high for me. I seriously considered it before I got the iPhone 3G but I know I made the right choice. Another highlight was the 6234, I bought one for my son (for $20 why not?), he liked it but I grew to hate it's UI and at full price it was poor value compared to the V630i let alone the amazing V640i.

No other Nokias appeal to me at all, especially since SE are finally putting wifi in the mid-range.

Just my opinion.
